I think the foot performed well enough through and immediately after the weekend that I can turn 'off' the injury status for the plantar fascism. Not perfect, but good enough.

Run warm up/down 4:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Trabuco 2024

Desultory, but seemingly effective warm-up, just before being called into pre-start

Orienteering race 19:52 [5] *** 2.9 km (6:51 / km) +4m 6:48 / km
spiked:29/31c shoes: Asics Trabuco 2024

Sprint, Takaka Schools. Indoor start! (there's a first for everything) Even allowing for the Ara effect on a 1:3 000 map, felt very quick, and mostly just on the right side of the speed versus control trade-off on a trickier than expected course. No real mistakes - full route choice comparisons might say otherwise - but lost that feeling of control a bit on the first visit to the SW corner of the map and a near miss towards the end after I'd been trying to hang on to Carsten for a couple of legs. The former was an area of small buildings and smaller gardens which was where the large scale really distorted expectations of how big things were. But did the right thing and came to a complete stop until things made sense. The near miss at the end came on an almost triangle of course (control 27 almost exactly on the straight line 29-30), despite checking numbers I still took a few paces from 27 in the direction of 29 before realising - a second or 2 of deviation.

Just inside the top 10 of a slightly less packed than yesterday M50 field (lost Ashmore & McLeod, gained Matt Scott). 5 minutes (c 35%) down on Carsten.
