Trail running 44:29 [3]

Ran at Catamount. Black course--hilly side. Mid-sixties, but drizzly, so very humid. Was difficult but managed to run the whole time.

Running (Run/walk) 50:00 [3]

Went to Burlington Waterfront with plans to run up the rec path to North Beach, then go for a swim and return. It was about 88 degrees which I found oppressive, so I ran/walked. I Had a time limit so even though I aspired to continue on to a friend's house, I had to turn aroud about 1/2 mile past North Beach. I did go for a swim which was very refreshing. I got a creemee and ate it while my feet dried, then walked/ran back. All in all it was a so-so workout, but a fun summertime outing.

Hiking (Dartmouth Bridge) 45:00 [3]

Refreshing cool morning, warm afternoon, low humidity. Followed a morning group on Map A and an afternoon group on Map B (w/ Hema). Morning group (college students) was very enthusiastic and went very fast. Wore me out going up the steep climbs that could have been avoided. Oh well.

Afternoon was a bit easier. No unnecessary climb.

Seems I have no legs. Probably from doing so little running. How can I be so sore? Inspired by Lisl, another facilitator, also 63. She is very fit. I have to quit comparing myself to the normal 63-year-old, most of whom are out of shape. Yes, I am more fit than most of my peers, but I am not working at being as strong and as fit as I can be. Seems I always have an excuse. Right now it is the heat.

Hiking (Dartmouth CS orienteering) 30:00 [2]

Facilitated a group in the morning hiking with them on Storr's Pond "A Map".
Set 2 new controls afterward. Very hot and very humid. Draining.

Later, went out to Burnt Mtn map to check out model area for North Americans. Storms approaching so cloudy with a few sprinkles, and very humid. Still very hot. Mosquitoes a problem there due to all the marshes at that end of the map. Great area though. Competitors will love it or hate it since it is so technical. Mapping is spot on what what I could see.
