Trail/Road running 24:00 [4]

OHR Week 1! 4 short hill sprints to start then 5x3mins on, 1 min off on the grassy football fields. Hot work - 19 deg at 7pm! Legs really feeling the weekend on the last one.

Orienteering 1:31:27 [4]

Alvie SOL Brown 9.4km 350m
Only just made my start - both parents doing Brown with long walk to start makes a 2 hour start window challenging! Loving the area again although turned brain off completely on way to 7, dropping 2 mins trying to find myself again. Heather hill climb was as tough as expected but then dropped time when Ray overtook me coming down off the open. And then some more on a little green leg. Happy to get round!
No string course or alternative - poor show BASOC, it's in the SOL rules.

Orienteering 45:31 [4]

Dunachtonmore (Craigbui) Blue 6km 225m
Lovely area, nothing too tricky and very fast course. Loved running without having to read the map too much! Legs a bit groggy from 3 long days of London working though.
A lovely area crying out for a string course by the registration/download area :-(

Trail/Road running 1:02:00 [3]

Psyched myself up for first OHR of the season expecting some beastly hill sesh or similar...only to find it was an 'easy' week and so just a nice run! Nice! Loop from uni up Darn Walk and back over Gallow Hill with lots of chat.

Orienteering 1:22:35 [3]

Craig a Barns SOL Brown 6.9km 410m
Holy moly I beat hubby! Neither of us had great runs but 9 seconds is 9 seconds! :-)
10 controls in 7km - never done a course with only long legs before and first half I was way too hesitant, keeping map contact far too much and not being confident enough to just leg it. Tough, undergrowth, hilly, stoopingness for the first 3 controls, got going a bit after that although never felt I was actually "running" until the last control! Lost time on 6 (tiny open area in dark green with lots of other unmarked open areas!), but not as much as hubby! The Swedes showed us how it should be done.
Numberjack string course, ESOC strings are always good :-)

Road Biking 1:22:59 [4] 37.28 km (2:14 / km) +80m 2:12 / km

A very late lunchtime ride. Work, Chalmerston Rd, Cordoch Rd towards Kippen, Thornhill and back via Chalmerston Rd. Little wind, dry and gave it a bit of effort. Marker in the sand for the winter.

Trail/Road running 38:00 [3]

First time since we had kids (~6 years) - a run with hubby! Quick jaunt up Dumyat on a lovely sunny day, between more manic DIY and cleaning gutters.

Orienteering race 36:00 [5]

British Middles Brereton Spurs W35L
Always rush Middles. Mustn't rush. Rushed. A lot.
Dropping time at most controls early on. Me and the map didn't click and ...I rushed. Binned 3mins on no 8 being astonishingly rubbish. Couldn't find 12 despite being in the circle. And lots of other scrappy nonsense. Managed the path running at the end ok, thankfully. A very disappointing 2nd. On the bright side, the kids had a wail of a time with the kids' possie and there was a maze AND naughty numbers for them.

Orienteering race 16:00 [3]

British Sprint Championships Keele Uni W35L
After the jaw-droppingly rude and officious email from the organiser in response to my enquiry about activities for the kids, combined with the guilt of dragging the kids such a long way when M is so tired from starting P1, plus me and hubby running at the same time, I wasn't really up for this weekend. But it turned out ok; the weather was nice, the social was good and the commentary by the organiser so awful it was funny.
Took it fairly easy for the qualifier - too easy as only finished 3rd, and thought only 3 might go through.

Orienteering 15:00 [5]

Finals. Started 2 mins ahead of Karen with someone unknown to me between. Had a pretty good race, can't complain with the nav too much and legs were never going to be fast given my recent focus on long hilly running. Only 9secs off Karen who had a slight advantage seeing her 1 min lady. Happy enough with 2nd.

Running (tarmac) 20:00 [2]

WU before quals (childcare post race), WU & WD for finals.

Note

Hubby and I off work with no kids for an anniversary treat = 8 hours of hedge cutting, window painting, out of control plant hacking and lots of other similarly wonderful jobs. Beats circuits.
