Orienteering 52:00 [4]

Polmaise WEE - Green
Man, sometimes I just love orienteering!
Until no 14 which I couldn't find for aaaaaages!!
Successful childcare juggling as managed to get the kids in bed by 8pm! :-)

Sunday May 26, 2013 #

Orienteering 54:33 [5] 5.4 km (10:06 / km)

Oostelbeersche Heide
Took my red pen to draw on north lines, but no need! Yesterday was a mistake apparently. Start official had some spare control descriptions especially for muppets who don't read the non-existent details, but I learnt my lesson yesterday. (Shame Jase didn't!)
Straight into vague low visibility stuff, and dropped a couple of mins at both no 3 and 4. I'm going to partly blame the map which was 10 years old! Extremely annoyed but pulled myself together. Kept seeing a couple of M55s which helped keep the spirits up. 3 min lead today meant an overall win, woo!

Trail/Road running 15:00 [3]

To start

Saturday May 25, 2013 #

Orienteering 46:35 [5] 5.1 km (9:08 / km)

Straatsche Heide
After the control description faff, discovered on starting that there were no north lines on the map. Needed quite a few accurate bearings so had multiple stops unfolding the map to find an edge. A few tricky controls, esp with big sandy tracks all over the place - I never did work out the difference between a sandy track (mapped as the sand polygon) vs sandy track (mapped as the usual track line symbol). Did actually get back in time to let Jase make the last start.

9 secs down but overall the top 3 were all in the same minute. Glad there was no chasing start this time.

Trail/Road running 25:00 [3]

Got to the start to discover control descriptions were back at CC, and there were none on the map. Unnecessary 1.8km extra warm up :-(

Note

Kinder-O was hunt the controls/score in a fantastic play park. Brilliant

Orienteering 27:34 [5] 3.8 km (7:15 / km)

Brabante 3 days, Eindhoven, Holland
"Sprint" race at Oirschot Barracks. Hard to make mistakes at the speed I go - just concentrated on control flow. 3 mins down.

Monday May 20, 2013 #

Orienteering 53:31 [5] 6.4 km (8:22 / km)

Kattevenia
Chasing start. Set off 14 secs behind 2nd and a few mins behind 1st. Unfortunately it was a round the path type course/area (point feature controls in the middle of blocks of wood), and my poor body wasn't up to a 'race'. Very pleased with 3rd overall and managing to run for 3 days in a row. Couldn't have done this day without the crèche, seeing as hubby started the same minute. Bar, cafe, showers & crèche....brilliant event.

Trail/Road running 5 [3]

First day not had to dash for start. Didn't know what to do with myself!

Sunday May 19, 2013 #

Orienteering 50:55 [3] 5.3 km (9:36 / km)

Zwartebergen near Lommel (actually in Holland)
Similar to Lossie except the white was energy sapping deep grass!
Dropped some time due to an extra sandy path confusing me but otherwise ok, just slow!
3rd, but exciting chasing start tomorrow as top 3 all quite close.

Trail/Road running 15:00 [3]

Dash to assembly and straight to start.

Saturday May 18, 2013 #

Orienteering 56:35 [5] 5.9 km (9:35 / km)

Belgium 3 days Melberg-Zillebos
Lots of out and round vs straight, low vis - no major mistakes but seems others did - 2nd.
A crèche so you don't have to do split starts and be there alllllllll day. How civilised!

Running (tarmac) 20:00 [3]

Dash to start

Wednesday May 15, 2013 #

Buggy walk 25:00 [1]

7 PM

Orienteering 36:23 [4] 4.2 mi (8:40 / mi)

Falkirk Wheel WEE
Got H to bed and made last start = result! Warmed up on the way to no 1. Bod fell apart ~28 mins in - left SI joint, left arch etc ...all expected! But managed to trot round most of the way (bar the hills of course!).

Half an hour early for the bus back from the garage and it was sunny, so thought I'd walk home. Tad longer than anticipated.

Lovely sunny evening and good route for 360 views; Fintry & Campsie Fells, Ben Lomond, Ben Ledi, Stuc a'Chroin & Ben Vorlich all looked amazing. Headwind back from Doune. Needed the mt bike in places on the back road!

Buggy walk 45:00 [1]

Note

6hrs 40 in the last 7 days .....and most of that is "proper" training!! Must be due to get ill again!
6 PM

Orienteering 43:23 [3] 4.3 km (10:05 / km) +190m 8:16 / km

Barr Wood - Green
29 controls in 4.3km, weaving backwards and forwards through all the nice bits. Wonderful! Brain totally hurt by about 23!

First WEE in nearly 2 years, but not sure I can justify the kids going to bed 1hr30mins late on a school night, so it might be my last for a while.
7 PM

Trail/Road running 20:00 [2]

Caught the rest of the family up on the short course and took over taking M round and carrying H.
