Biomechanical assessment. Last done 20 years ago. Interesting. Very interesting. But no miracle quick fix.

Orienteering race 31:15 [5]

Scottish Relays @ Balmoral 3.5km 145m
Massive rush/panic to get to start to discover I wasn't first leg. Calmed down doing the string course with H (the longest in the world?). 3rd leg setting off with Pippa D and Katrina McLeod (but well behind EUOC1). Extremely disappointing gaffling (like there was only 1 control and it was ~50m different) meant there was no way I could out-navigate the young 'uns. I did give them a jolly good scare/run for their money though! 3rd place :-) Our 'no-21s-allowed' dream team continues its podium ways!

Orienteering 59:51 [4]

Scottish Champs @ Balmoral 5.1km 300m
Came away feeling pretty frustrated about this race but realised it was actually due to external factors - bingo boulder at no 2 without a veg change marked beforehand, naff leg to 4 straight through some OOB, control descriptions of 'crag' with a circle full of crags, some odd mapping, blah blah. But on reflection, had a good run apart from aforementioned no 2 bingo boulder (-3 or 4 mins?) and was pretty ok compared to the whippersnapper elites. And very chuffed to now have all the major titles this year - British Nights, JK (not won since W10!), British Classic, Scottish - whoop whoop! Best quit now as this is probably as good as it gets. Hip etc completely rebelled overnight too ... sore!

Road Biking 1:52:00 [3] 46.6 km (2:24 / km) +370m 2:19 / km

Meeting in Perth, Met Office forecast sunny and dry - why wouldn't you?
Cycle home via Dunning, Auchterarder, Braco (with pack!). It wasn't dry of course but it was warm. Lovely scenic ride and quiet roads. Legs finally getting used to this cycling malarky.

Small window so legged it to Braco and back.
Plus Junior PR with H (amazing 16.02...she'll be quicker than me soon) which massively aggravated my piriformis/glute etc.

To/from work.

May = Scottish Workplace Challenge. Apparently I have used the equivalent of 12 doughnuts cycling to work so far this month - 10 journeys. 12 doughnuts - is that all? How very depressing. On the flip side, 22kg of CO2 and £28.14 saved, apparently.

Orienteering 1:17:30 [3]

Glen Affric Short Brown 6.5km 315m
Chose to run up a course as never actually o-ed here before. Utterly amazing area and beautiful too. Tried not to stress about the kids as had to leave them to it (split starts, long courses and very long way to start). They were fine of course. Very steady first half whilst getting used to the area, progressing to bumbling a little on the long (uphill tough terrainy) leg as I lost focus, speed and visibility (from the mist). Picked up again when we got back in the lovely white wood and I could actually run rather than power walk. Thoroughly enjoyable experience (apart from the hip/glute/h/s etc which seemed worse from a week of no running) to top off a great wkd of camping pods, campfires, marshmallows and general outdoor larkings.

Orienteering race 41:25 [5]

British Relays Brown Clee Women's Open 3rd leg - 5.2km 180m

Grace came back ~8th saying she had lost 4 mins, and then Clare had an absolute corker to come back 3rd! Felt like a hare at a greyhound racing track. Thanks to a big enough head start, I didn't get caught by the pack and thanks to a mistake by EUOC at the penultimate, I managed to hold on to 2nd. WOOOOO!! 2 juniors and an old lady finish 2nd at BRC :-)

NB 13 hours in a car over 2 days = more crippled!
