Swimming race 27:34 [3]

I actually enjoyed this loads - got all my kit just perfect, got far enough out for the mass start to not get caught in the scrum and swam really smoothly. And NO frozen fingers, wow!

Trail/Road running race 5:57:00 [4] 24.0 km (14:53 / km) +2027m 10:28 / km

Crazy conditions - very windy and visibility about 20m for most of the way. The reccy and being quite handy with a map and compass paid off big time and we went through the reservoir checkpoint and munro 7 Tarmachan FIRST out of all the 6am swim start! Big boost!

Paddling race 1:26:00 [4]

Great support from the family at the changeover, shovelling pasta in whilst changing into dry kit. Lots of support from all the volunteers and spectators - they were amazed a female pair were the second team through! (we were too!)

Road Biking race 2:40:00 [3]

Had to be hauled out the boat as hips/gluts etc had seized up, but the team there were expecting it! Another kit change (rain getting really bad). Heather' could hardly get up the hill out the field - her newly serviced bike and new brakes were so tight they were "on" - a good 10-15 mins lost, argh! Legs a bit tired, but Heather's were worse and combined with the wind and rain meant a decent bike time wasn't on the cards.

Extremely chuffed to have got 10 hours 58, first female pair, ahead of the first mixed pair and 13th team overall. We were very good with our race discipline of eating & drinking, kit faffs and of course super navigation, plus, my body was absolutely great. Happy! :-)

Trail/Road running 43:00 [3]

A hot run over Dumyat from the top car park, down the east end looping back round the south of the summit to join the main track again. Fantastic views.

Swimming 25:00 [2]

OWS at Cocksburn Reservoir testing out some new head gear. Beautiful afternoon swimming amongst the leaping fish. No frozen fingers at all (it's such a tiny reservoir it was positively boiling!)

Note

So hubby is so ill he's off work, H's temp is sky-high and M has a sore throat. Is there any chance of making it to the start line healthy? Positive thinking, vitamins and finger-crossing tastic!
