Stretching 15:00 [1]

Morning gymnastics
9 AM

Mountain Biking 1:25:00 [3] 23.5 km (3:37 / km)

Solo ride on similar route as earlier in the week to start then back from Soo via east side of ridge and La Santa. Found the technical single track back from La Santa parallel to the road which was fun!

Most amazing was that I came across a control, complete with SI box. And then another one. And then the guy putting them out! Couldn't pass on this opportunity even if I was pushing it to get back for my swim instruction class! Apparently there are 5 maps on the island and only school children use them. No club or website for the island but I did get the map! New sport at CLS opportunity!!
11 AM

Swimming 25:00 [2]

45 min backstroke instruction class. Yet more technique tweaking!
3 PM

Swimming 1:10:00 [3] 3.0 km (23:20 / km)

Swim squad 3km positive and negative splits. Plus tumble turn practice. Plus technique tweaking revision. Sooo many things to remember!!

Note

Walked up the Soo volcano from Soo with the kids plus Wards, meeting up with the rest of the Edinburgh crew at the col who had run up. Far too windy on the scrambly scree at the top for us, so we did the slightly lower one.
11 AM

Trail/Road running 40:00 [2] 7.0 km (5:43 / km)

Off road loop at easy pace to recce 4 geocaches. Found only one. I'm sure the aim of geocaching isn't to spend hours hunting for the 8uggers but so many of them seem to be like this. Give me orienteering any day! Quads improving, both h/s still tight.
3 PM

Swimming 30:00 [3] 1.0 km (30:00 / km)

Swim squad. Thought I needed an easy day so went for the 1km sesh, but actually felt fine.

Stretching 15:00 [1]

Morning gymnastics. Tired, oh so tired!
9 AM

Conditioning 45:00 [2]

6D sliding (aka floor dusting)
Would have been a good strength session if I didn't just want to lie down! Today is supposed to be a rest day!! Had a good crack at it and can definitely see the point of it. Do the hamstring ones already so might expand my repertoire back at home.
10 AM

Swimming 25:00 [1]

45 min tumble turn instruction class. Made way more sense this time, feeling like I've progressed!
11 AM

Swimming 25:00 [2]

45 min butterfly instruction class. Hmm, know the theory but still nowhere near being able to do a whole length!

Swimming 7:30 [4] 0.4 km (18:45 / km)

Triathlon swim. Including putting socks, shoes and running to end of pool and dancing all over mat to make it work, 8.46.

Road Biking 25:35 [5] 12.0 km (2:08 / km)

No nice big Dane to draught today and pretty windy before and past the night club. Worked hard but quads and hams just not up to it yet. Time includes changing to running shoes.

Running (tarmac) 22:38 [5] 5.0 km (4:32 / km)

Set a survival pace and tried to enjoy it! Hamstrings really unhappy so no striding out. Hubby came past pretty quickly as he'd had a great swim and some nice draughting. Overtook a lady or two to finish 3rd female which was a nice surprise! Fab Team Scotland atmosphere with the Ed crowd doing it either individually or in teams as well.

Huge sense of achievement after not having done any paced running and zero road biking for so long. Hoping this is the start of getting back to biking...missed it!
4 PM

Stretching 30:00 [0]

Release and unwind (aka self torture). Foam roller, tennis ball etc.
5 PM

Swimming 45:00 [3] 2.0 km (22:30 / km)

Just about managed the 2km swim squad sesh - tired bod! Long strokes focus.

Stretching 15:00 [1]

Morning gymnastics
10 AM

Mountain Biking 2:00:00 [1] 24.0 km (5:00 / km)

Mtb to Famara with M and Dad for ice creams, and back same way. Mirador day yet again...hot and no wind. Stunning.
3 PM

Stretching 45:00 [0]

Scorching stretch and relax. Just wanted to sleep rather than...
4 PM

Swimming 1:10:00 [3] 3.0 km (23:20 / km)

Swim squad. Focus on all the tweaks to my technique I've had pointed out over the last few days. Drank quite a lot of pool water but at least it shows I'm trying!! Feeling the benefit already in terms of reduced stress in my left shoulder.

Running (tarmac) 11:30 [5] 2.5 km (4:36 / km)

Duathlon 1st run, approx time

Road Biking 25:00 [5] 12.0 km (2:05 / km)

Duathlon road bike, 4 laps of the lagoon now rather than up to Tinajo. Wind was sapping on the far side but managed to hang onto a big Dane's tail for 3 of the 4 laps. Totally gubbed myself though with my non-existent road cycling legs and so....

Running (tarmac) 12:00 [5] 2.5 km (4:48 / km)

Duathlon 2nd run. Legs a disaster, crawled round. Time estimated for now. Annoyingly my chip didn't register so no official time. Massive sense of achievement after so long off the bike...big, happy tick! Hamstring seems ok....or maybe everything else hurts so much I'm not noticing it.
2 PM

Swimming 3:40 [5] 0.2 km (18:20 / km)

Aquathlon swim, 200m, 4.11 including transition and run to chip mat at other end of pool.

Running (tarmac) 15:27 [5] 3.0 km (5:09 / km)

Aquathlon 3km around the lagoon. Running scared the whole way, trying to hold off the hubby and ignore the exhaustion in my quads. Caught on the line (only due to hubby having done the advanced mtb ride the day before I'm sure!!). First lady!! Holiday now!
