Running (Trail/hill) 1:30:00 [2] 7.0 mi (12:51 / mi)

Well, Saturday was my first weekend day in Grand Portage, MN. This is quite a beautiful place; I have the crystal-clear, ice cold waters of the greatest great lake of them all outside my front porch, and wannabe mountains out back. I have been anxious to get out and explore this Boreal ecosystem (the deciduous trees haven't even leafed out yet), so I decided to break the ice with a run up the Mt. Josephine trail, which begins just across the road from my lodgings. The trail alternates flat and very steep, and though I tried to run as much of it as I could, the spectacular views of Grand Portage Bay and the surrounding wilderness were much more effective at slowing me down than the hills.
