Black ice everywhere. First mile = 8:45. Ran at kilo and through the muddy softball fields. Not a fast run at all.

Hamstrings, quads & hips are sore. Did not feel smooth at all during the run. My right ischium bothered me for the first couple miles.

Running (Norpoint Turkey Trot) 58:00 [4] 8.6 mi (6:45 / mi)
slept:9.0

Arrived at the place at ~8:25. The parking lot was a skating ring. I wasn't too enthusiastic about racing and my plan for running under 9:20 for the first 2 miles was out the door. I managed to get in a 1 mile "warm-up" ~15 minutes before the start. As soon as I stepped into the parking lot I twisted my left ankle. I shook it off and it didn't start hurting again until after the cool-down. I talked to Ruben on the starting line since we were held for ~5 minutes. I mentioned the original plan (sub-9:20) and that I hardly warmed up and was just going to try to run ~17:00. So we took off and I came out of the parking lot like an airplane (with my arms out) trying not to slip. Ben and Ruben were in front and I decided to work the hill because I thought it was all downhill after the turn off the main road. Well it wasn't; and as I hit the first mile in 4:50, I knew that Ben Mangrum would take it from there. He actually didn't pull too far away until the last 6-800m and finished in 16:07. I started getting a side ache before 2 miles and failed to get my split. While coming up the big hill towards the finish, my throat burned from the cold and I was slacking off. I felt like I was going very slow and I was mad that I wasn't able to get my legs to turnover faster. When I got to the top of the hill I was able to pick it up again but by then I only had ~200m to go; and I finished in 16:47, which was weird because I came across 3 miles in 15:50. Oh well, it is just a turkey trot; and I got a good 4.5mi cool-down in (33:13).

Running (Star Lake + Lake Dolloff) 1:00:00 [2] 7.9 mi (7:36 / mi)
slept:9.84

It was definitely more slick outside today, but the only problems I had were a result of my sensitive stomach. Legs felt good and I haven't been feeling my right ischium for the last few days.

Running (Tuesday + Military) 1:03:10 [3] 9.05 mi (6:59 / mi)
slept:9.75

Waited until after 3pm to run. The roads were full of mostly dry ice with some bare spots. I mainly stayed on the crunchy stuff. First mile = 7:45. Wore my oldest tights and a t-shirt with snow gloves. My fingers were cold until I got to Cemetery Road (~3mi). I kept my heart rate at around 155bpm for the whole run. I liked this run because I had a lot of opportunities to fall, but I didn't. I don't think I've ever fallen in the snow during a run. This was kind of like orienteering because I had to be more alert and focus.

Running (Weyerhaeuser Perimeter) 51:00 [2] 6.72 mi (7:35 / mi)
slept:7.5

Ran slow in the snow with Ruston the whole way. The snow started melting and the parking lot was clear when we got back. My stomach felt a little achy but it was a good run.

Note
slept:10.3 (rest day)

I didn't warm-down or stretch after the orienteering meet yesterday and felt very stiff when I woke up. Didn't leave the house today.
