Decided not to run today to let my left achilles, knee & hip heal. It was too nice of a day to stay inside all day so I decided to go for my first bike ride since last summer. Took off during the hottest part of the day, during the hottest day of the year (78, direct sunlight) with 1 water bottle. Needless to say, I was pretty thirsty after ~45min when I took my first sip (half the bottle). I decided that since I had made it all the way to The Old Cannery, that I might as well go to the end of the Orting Trail. When I turned around, I discovered that the headwind going out was actually a side wind, and that it would work against me more so on the way back. I didn't drink anymore water until I found a water fountain (at 40.6mi). I filled up the water bottle and drank it (~28oz), and filled it up again before taking off. Overall, I stopped for 4:02 for water and all the stoplights. It seems like a long time to have to wait at stoplights but it was a long ride, especially since I was not prepared. The last 13 miles I had a really difficult time holding my head up. My neck and lower back were cramping pretty badly. I tried to ride with no handlebars so I could stretch out, but the headwind, and my bonkiness that I was experiencing made it difficult to keep my bike on the bike path.
