Cycling 3:30:00 [1]
Railway line up past Lanchester to Consett, then NCN 7 (coast to coast path) to Stanley, with a stop at Harperley Hall to inhale lunch and a bucket of tea. Then a stop just down the road for another cuppa with Sarah and Josie at tanfield lea (purpose of this ride was in part to deliver some books to them). Then a frantic pedal to rejoin NCN 7 and thankfully some nicely tarmacced downhill past Beamish. Missed turning I was planning to take and ended up nearer Birtley, so a bit of road through Chester-le-street. Then back roads home.
Have been wanting to do this longer ride for a while, but it was definitely an effort today. The 'fresh breeze' forecast was actually a pretty strong headwind after Lanchester, just as the uphill kicks in. I wasway too optimistic on timings (random map scale not helping), but glad to get a longer session in, as won't get a chance this weekend.
Just made it back in time for a quick shower and school pick up!
