Braemar to Blair Atholl, through Glen Tilt, with Jane.
Another awesome day out thankfully with less wind and some sunshine! I'd been dreading the 10km road to start off (and even mooted getting a taxi at one point -but that would just feel like cheating and knew we'd regret it). But it was gorgeous - we marched along, walking fast to the highest point again and then running (or trying to!) from there. Plenty of great chat again as well.
Loved the single track over the highest bit, views amazing and felt so remote at watershed.
But disappointed by the falls of tarf, and I hit struggle town on some of the estate track below this (flat with bits of uphill and bleak - exactly what I hate running on). So we did some more marching which wasn't much slower than my running I think. Got going again for the last ten km or so, and very happy to reach Blair Atholl.
Time doesn't include stop for lunch but does include numerous blister care, loo and photo stops. Turns out running next to a river all day means you need a lot of wee stops!
Found a great sheltered sun spot for lunch about 23km in.
Three river crossings close together on the way up which were big but thankfully fine with two of us.
We didn't realise quite how far today was, but super chuffed to finish and hit the 90km mark for the weekend. And we managed to finish in the light with plenty of time to get to my train.
And amazed my body managed this. Right achilles is sore (and calf tight) but sinuses seem to have cleared for the moment. Big toe ok, blisters on big toe on left foot and both heels.
