Running 7:35:00 [2] 47.0 km (9:41 / km) +400m 9:17 / km

Braemar to Blair Atholl, through Glen Tilt, with Jane.
Another awesome day out thankfully with less wind and some sunshine! I'd been dreading the 10km road to start off (and even mooted getting a taxi at one point -but that would just feel like cheating and knew we'd regret it). But it was gorgeous - we marched along, walking fast to the highest point again and then running (or trying to!) from there. Plenty of great chat again as well.
Loved the single track over the highest bit, views amazing and felt so remote at watershed.
But disappointed by the falls of tarf, and I hit struggle town on some of the estate track below this (flat with bits of uphill and bleak - exactly what I hate running on). So we did some more marching which wasn't much slower than my running I think. Got going again for the last ten km or so, and very happy to reach Blair Atholl.
Time doesn't include stop for lunch but does include numerous blister care, loo and photo stops. Turns out running next to a river all day means you need a lot of wee stops!
Found a great sheltered sun spot for lunch about 23km in.
Three river crossings close together on the way up which were big but thankfully fine with two of us.
We didn't realise quite how far today was, but super chuffed to finish and hit the 90km mark for the weekend. And we managed to finish in the light with plenty of time to get to my train.
And amazed my body managed this. Right achilles is sore (and calf tight) but sinuses seem to have cleared for the moment. Big toe ok, blisters on big toe on left foot and both heels.
9 PM

Cycling 10:00 [1]

Back from station. Legs moving ok on bike but heel and Achilles v sore. Happy to get home.

Running 7:30:00 [2] 43.0 km (10:28 / km) +810m 9:34 / km

Aviemore to Braemar with Jane, through Lairig Ghru and Glen Luibeg.
Time doesn't include our stop of about 30 mins at Bob Scott's Bothy for hot chocolate (with marshmallows and mars bars as this was our girly weekend away so we wanted some luxury treats!). But does include numerous photo, snack and wee stops.
Awesome and fun day out - lots of wind and drizzle higher up which stopped the chat for a while, but we got going again as we descended. Walked (hard) the uphill and started running when the path got going again after the pools of dee. Walked the road bit at the end into Braemar.
Thankfully the wind was only really bad for a bit on the way up.
Some amazing scenery despite the rain, and felt really remote. We didn't see anyone until the bothy, and then just one person on a mountain bike and three calling in before heading up to Hutchisons for the night.
Very happy to be staying in luxury in the warmth at Braemar and enjoyed pub dinner and beer.
Filled myself with painkillers during the day to deal with sinuses but they actually felt ok at the end of it. Foot also fine but possibly masked a bit by the painkillers...

Cycling 10:00 [1]

To the station.
After waking up feeling well on Thursday morning, felt awful again by the evening and conceded that I have a sinus infection after the last cold. Thankfully all clear gunk but feeling awful Friday morning. No idea if I'd actually manage the weekend but figured I'd get there and see. Felt a little brighter after napping on the train journey.
