Running 32:00 [3]

Back on the road again - train to Southampton, just time for a quick run on very wet clay already all churned up by horses - felt much like running on a treadmill, in fact...

Running 22:00 [5]
max:175

Pounding the treadmill in a gym in Brussels - ghastly thing, took me ages to work out how to turn off its TV screen (can't think why I'd want to be looking down at CNN the whole time, or any of the time even) and get it to display useful things like how fast I was going or for how long. Decided the only thing to do with it was to whack it up as fast as it would go and see how long I could stay on, and then try a few more fast reps. Not good for you - doesn't feel like a natural running action at all. Still, I did discover that my max heart rate seems to be at least slightly more than the age-related formula.

Another Hampstead Heath run before breakfast.

Running 35:00 [3]

Time for a quick run on Hampstead Heath before dinner - lovely evening, what looked like the last remains of snowmen all over the place.

Running 1:27:41 [3]

Having a look at the first part of the Seven Hills of Edinburgh race - many detours necessary due to lots of paths and roads being closed, but a useful scouting mission. Calton Hill, Castle Hill, Costorphine and then the route from there on to Gorgie Rd, but not enough time to go and check out the final push up East Craiglockart. Anyone else on for the 7 Hills race in June?

The training's about to take a dive due to a rash of work and family trips over the next week - will take my kit just in case, but I'm not holding my breath...
