Orienteering race 1:52:02 [3] 9.6 km (11:40 / km) +530m 9:09 / km

Long distance champs, DE 21/23. Winning time Sime 1.14.47

Had a super clean race until the very end. A couple of bubbles (15") in the control area was the largest mistake. But then I chose a bad route on the very long (25') leg at the very end. went all down and around because my brain was not able any more to see where the alternative route was up- or downhill. As I later learned, the route on the other side would have been perfect. No uphill, just downhill running and all in the cool forest. I, instead, was running in the burning sun through the village and had then to climb another 35m (mostly walking) to get to the control. Then back to the finish I went around again, this time climbing a bit more and going over the hill would have been better. Lost 4min and two positions on the result list there...

But, proud to have finished the race =)

8. Nat DE 23/27. Winning time Sime 26:04

Basically a clean race with the exception of tow larger search operations and two bad route choices.

Controls came as expected until #10 (4' mistake). Didn't take enough time to really understand the relief of the control area. Saw a lot of contorls, none was mine, but again I didn't take the time to identify exactly where I was.
Finally got caught by a bunch of girls that started after me, went with them for a few controls, took then another route where I wanted to run on the road. On the way to said road, I suddenly thought that I was not allowed to run on it. So stayed in the slope with very bad runnability. ugh
Another mistake to #19 after a longer leg, where I expected to be more to the east already when meeting the path. Not even an other girl running very determinedly on the path made me realise where I was. Another 3min lost...

was a bit frustrated and not sure if I'll run the whole race on Sunday.

another rest day, legs still pretty sore.

and hip held up the whole weekend. Maybe it is just that the sore muscles of my quadriceps, calves and hamstrings are much more dominant than any pain I might feel in my hip??
