Orienteering race 1:20:00 [3]
shoes: inov-8 Oroc 280

Well, time for a cameo appearance to Attackpoint again, for a couple weeks of sporadic logging.

Saturday AM was the West Point middle distance. Which sucked. Technically, the race itself didn't suck, I just sucked. It all started off doing a 180 off the start and heading off in the wrong direction. I then corrected, and was generally going okay, but paranoia took over and I went short, and wandered off for a while. Eventually I re-grouped and figured out what I was doing. 9 minutes later. I then found myself perpetually hooking each control, either overshooting, shooting left, shooting right, all over the place. That's been a recurring theme all week, I'm not sure if my compasses are out of wack, or I just can't take a bearing to save my self. All told, according to Win Splits, I lost a total of 11:34 from mistakes, which in theory would have put me second. It was mid-race when I swore I was never going to orienteer again and was going to being playing floorball full-time.

So I thought to myself, "okay, this is a sprint, and you're a 'sprinter'" (which, I might add, I hate being). Surely this was going to go way better. And, yeah, it was going fairly well, started out controlled, and was cruising for the first bit, even though I didn't go up the hill when approaching the start road and watch other racers go to the first control like some fellow competitors did *cough*. By the 6th control I was even in the lead. Then, on 12, which was actually 11, but control number 112, having just punched 111, I started trying to go to 113 (12) when I should have been going to 112 (11). Thus, none of my bearings or features made any sense, since going from 10 (111) to 113 (12) as if you're actually at 112 (11), doesn't make any sense.

Apparently I skipped over the lesson of counting from 10 to 20, though I would also argue that arranging control numbers is just asking for confusion. Oddly enough, after my 2 minute error, I still finished fourth. *facepalm*

Running 50:00 [1]
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Light trail run in the morning with Paul. Pretty warm, it got up to +14 today!

Nordic (skating) 1:20:00 [1]

This is probably the latest spring skiing that wasn't because of a random freak snowstorm I've ever done. Some barespots, very slow, but stiill pretty good.

Freak snow storm forecasted for Friday. Time to get out the Fischer Jibskates and hit the snowboard park?
