Running 1:20:00 [1] 14.49 km (5:31 / km)
shoes: inov-8 F-lite 190

So da boss told me one of his solutions when he developed plantar fasciitis was to do a bit more running in Vibram Five Fingers. I know, horrible. But, I thought I'd give it a fair shake, since running in slightly more cushioned or supportive shoes (oroc 280, roclite 320, kinvaras), didn't seem to be making a difference, I went the opposite way and ventured out in my f-lite 190, (3mm drop, 9mm to 6mm). And, like most runs, it was unhappy for the first few minutes, warmed up, then was fine for an hour, until started being unhappy again. Then came on with a vengeance once finished. So, no major changes with that footwear. I imagine, though, that if anything strengthening were to occur, it might've happened more readily in the f-lites.

Cycling 1:00:00 [1]

After spending the afternoon freezing my ass of at the Silver Skate Festival with our orienteering booth (more on that later), I hobbled home and rode the trainer. Hobble because I was standing all afternoon and that did not agree with my foot whatsoever. Some pretty localized pulsing pain. Not cool, foot. not cool at all.

Cycling 1:00:00 [1]

Well, I had initially planned on going skiing before working at the shop today. And then guess what happened? Well, nothing. I went to the shop, worked all day, had a very sore foot, thought about buying Hokas, then went home and rode my training. Less than ideal, no question. Still, at the bare minimum, got some sweat in, and not just from running up and down the stairs getting people the new inov-8 cross fit shoe. (p.s. they don't like it)

Running 1:30:00 [1] 15.0 km (6:00 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 X-Talon 212

Went and did the 5 peaks run. Foot got bothersome after peak number 3, but plugged through it, albeit not very quickly. Was going to make it six peaks, but peak 1 is either sheer ice or super wet mud/clay, which stuck to my shoes for quite some time. Someone made some homemade signs along one of the trails asking idiot dog owners to put up after their dogs, which makes me relieved I'm not the only one who is getting remarkably ticked by this.

Running 1:25:00 [1] 14.44 km (5:53 / km)

Hobbled around a bit today, which wasn't great. But, then I went for a run anyway! Tried running a bit more minimalist, with my F-lites. I don't think it made my food any better or worse, but it definitely worked the calves a bit more! I think, by extension, that would put more strain on my PF, but its hard to say. I stretch my calves so much these days they might be flexible enough to handle it.

Cycling 45:00 [1]

More cycling in the morning, beause I had soccer in the afternoon.

Soccer felt okay on the foot, with being taped up. Definitely ramped up in pain for the last half hour, but I was working a bit harder then (have to to compensate for my teammate's lack of fitness). Still, as I said before, stopping is the worst, so if I get up a head of steam, I usually have to start braking quite early or just run straight into the net. I actually do that a lot. In fact, I may be the only one who actually goes towards the net when attacking. Which is stupid because CLEARLY the highest percentage shots are from the outside. The tighter the angle the better. And definitely hit it as hard as possible. And don't control. Just kick it when it comes near you. In fact, close your eyes, you get more power that way.

Cycling 45:00 [1]

Back to regular training! And by that I mean, back on the bike to let my foot recover from being beaten up all weekend long. It was taped for most of the weekend, but survived fairly okay. It actually seemed most happy in the f-lite 190s, so that was a thought.

I think sprinting is in general okay, but the biggest problem with soccer is sprinting + stopping. I think stopping is real real bad.
