Running 1:10:00 [3] 13.76 km (5:05 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

We've had some heavy snow over the last few days, but I decided to go out and attempt another tempo run, though not nearly as long as I normally would. My knee was generally unhappy by about 30 minutes in to the tempo, though it was also the rest of my legs that weren't feeling so great either. I think a big culprit behind this was my complete lack of training volume in December, party from being so busy and it being so cold but mostly because I was exceedingly lazy. Thus, my tempo pace is also pretty darn slow. Maybe it was the conditions. Yeah, the conditions.

Nordic (classic) 1:35:00 [1] 14.37 km (6:37 / km)

Still pretty slow conditions out there, tried to do classic but really had no kick. So it was a lot of arms and some herring bone, pretty slow, but I feel like I keep having to do this because my knee is still bothersome while running.

Running 1:00:00 [1] 9.0 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Brooks Cascadia

Remember how I spoke about how slow it was skiing? Well, the running is just as bad. Its like ankle deep water, if not just regular slush. I made matters worse by feeling really sleepy around 5, having a nap for an hour, and then trying to drag myself out for a run. At first it was like "I'm going to do an hour of tempo!", and then it was "okay, 30 minutes of tempo, the short loop", and the it ended up being, "Does shuffling around for an hour count as running?" Running surface bad, legs bad, gut unhappy. Tough slog.

Also today we learned to [how to not] do things on the high bars. Basically can't do any of the skills. And my hands feel like they're on fire now. Just like my last gymnastics class! Good times.

Nordic (skating) 1:00:00 [1] 10.0 km (6:00 / km)

I don't think I've ever gone for such a slow ski in my entire life. A whopping 10k in 61 minutes. The weather has been brutal since the weekend. +2, combination of rain/snow basically the entire time. Incredibly miserable conditions, for running, skiing, and living. The whole world is either covered in ice, slush, water, or a bit of everything. I don't think I've ever experienced snow this slow and it hasn't been -30. Probably should have just done classic, but I didn't want to deal with not being able to find any working kick wax. So, I skated, and there was basically no glide, it was like walking. Off-set the uphills. Off-set the flats. Off-set the downhills.

Brutal. Not a bad workout though. Just the numbers look a little silly.

Running intervals 1:20:00 [4] 18.0 km (4:27 / km)
shoes: Brooks Pure Connect 4

Well, I may not be getting in the volume, but at least I seem to be getting in the intensity! Jogged over to Hippos to join in a track workout, which was a good medium intensity workout that won't make me tooooo sore, and wasn't too brutal. 8 x 1000m, starting at 3:45, and going down by 5 seconds to 3:10, with about 1:30. Didn't really get too tough until the last two. I was pleasantly surprised with how not bad that felt.
