Felt like good pace - tiring towards end of route.
No left knee pain - twinge at L ankle. R knee & quads feeling tight esp at start.

Cycling 1:35:00 [0]16.94 km (5:36 / km)

Very steady ride with friend who has not been on bike for years & will never do the type of biking I am involved with. Good to catch up on news but not my pace for a ride at all!!!
C • don't be so mean about Mr Q... 4
Running 33:59 [3]5.96 km (5:42 / km)
shoes: Saucony Grid Nitrous (New)
www.bikehike.co.uk/mapview.php?id=1030

Feeling good by end of run - legs heavy for maybe first half or route. Better sleep last night made me feel much better today & ready to get back to training again.

Saturday Jul 26

Note
slept:7.0

Friday Jul 25

Horse riding (Hacking) 50:00 [0]

Thursday Jul 24

Horse riding (Hacking) 1:00:00 [0]

Wednesday Jul 23

Climbing last night has left me feeling shattered again - time to back off everything & take it easy for a week or so.

Tuesday Jul 22

Climbing 2:00:00 [3]
slept:6.0 shoes: Boreal Joker
Not climbing well tonight - putting it down to fatigue from the weekend tho some gradings may also be off....

Started with a 5 & found it really tough, but later a 6a was pretty straight forward - go figure! Hard boulder route from Rat Race still up - hopefully still there next week as I think I have sussed it but lacked the energy!

Adventure Race race 2:28:03 [5]** 18.5 km (8:00 / km)
shoes: Saucony Grid Nitrous (New)
Edinburgh A-Z map. http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=2130697
Score format with added challenges at some controls to "earn" points.

Managed to complete about 1/2 wall traverse before team decision that it was taking too long & we abandoned it.
Mark & Andrew completed space hopper relay!
Andrew completed slalom skiing on Wii Fit.
Juggled oranges.
Word search.

Back within time limit so no penalties accrued.

Knees still aching with downhill running & pace could be better. Feel knee injury really set me back on the additional training I had planned before this event - didn't get to do the hill running & speed reps that I had planned on my holiday.

Friday Jul 18

Cycling 18:21 [1]5.87 km (3:08 / km)
slept:7.5 (injured)
Short route to check bike ok after bleeding brakes earlier - all seems fine. Just need to get kit organised....
Horse riding (Hacking) 1:00:00 [0]

Thursday Jul 17

Running 21:56 [2]4.2 km (5:13 / km) +25m 5:04 / km
(injured) shoes: Saucony Grid Nitrous (New)
Supposed to be an easy "tickover" run before the weekend....... Knees only aching slightly compared to previously - L>R.
Pretty pleased with that as increased stride length really ached last run.
C • Good Luck! 2

Wednesday Jul 16

Climbing 3:00:00 [2]
(injured) shoes: Boreal Joker
A bit of bouldering before the others arrived - was careful not to tackle too many routes & risk being too fatigued to climb later.

Mostly 5+ routes. Completed a couple of 6a's too. Managed ~1/4 way up 6b then changed to yellow 6a route - arms too tired to make a good job of it..... Tired now.....

Tuesday Jul 15

Note
slept:6.5 (injured)
C • Miguel Induran would be scared of you! 2
Horse riding (Hacking) 1:00:00 [0]

Monday Jul 14

Note
slept:3.0 (injured)
Climbing 1:15:00 [2]
shoes: Boreal Joker
Great to be back on a climbing wall & boulders again!!!!!!!!! Have missed climbing so much!
Very happy/contented person with that tonight. Didn't climb anything more that 5+, but knees not a problem & only knocked right knee once. Roll on Wednesday - will try a 6a or two hopefully......
C • Might see ya there then...? 4

Sunday Jul 13

Running (Trails) 36:15 [2]6 km (6:02 / km)
slept:6.0 (injured) shoes: Saucony Grid Nitrous
Legs feeling very heavy for most of run & knees aching. Improved towards end of run... probably endorphins kicking in.
Cycling (Roads) 59:32 [2]18.08 km (3:18 / km)
Usual round route to stables this evening - felt like harder work than normal with different tyres but............. managed to break the hour time wise that has eluded me. Although they are knobbly tyres the narrower width must have made the difference to rolling resistance.
Horse riding (Hacking) 1:00:00 [0]
Walk out with Esther long-reining G.

Saturday Jul 12

Note
(injured) (rest day)
Working all day alone - ended up really busy & shattered.

Wednesday Jul 9

Cycling 1:20:00 [3]26 km (3:05 / km)
(injured)
Canal towpath Edinburgh to Ratho & return.
Feeling slow - probably still fatigued from weekend.
Note
Will continue to mark as injured until able to run comfortably around my normal routes - bilateral knee pain remains at present....

Tuesday Jul 8

Horse riding (Hacking) 1:00:00 [0]

Harris relay type stage with set route for compulsory spine of controls with option of getting specified extras.
Activity included zip line - abseil too dangerous due to weather.

Saturday Jul 5

Event: Dirty Weekend

Adventure Race race 7:44:44 [5]***** 59.31 km (7:50 / km)
slept:5.0 (injured)
Map scale 1:50,000 - made navigation difficult when tracks became "indistinct". Note: avoid indistinct paths like the plague when with a bike!!
Will need to check distance for kayak stage & run stage.
Additional activities not taxing.
Made for good team building!!
Adventure Race race (Night stage) 2:15:00 [5]***** 21.22 km (6:22 / km)
Night orienteering added to complexity esp for bike section.
Time above included ~20 mins to/from stage location.
Distance included to/from location & distance covered on bike during stage.
90 min score - any foot controls & all bike controls within the time to get the points.
Note
Left knee becoming very painful - esp downhill.
Right knee coping well with demands of racing.
Still going to mark log as injured as not able to compete at normal pace due to knee pain - doesn't stop intensity being a 5 as was pushing to the limits that injury would allow.

Friday Jul 4

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Thursday Jul 3

Cycling (Roads) 18:45 [2]5.69 km (3:18 / km)
(injured)
Easy route to check bike before weekend.

Wednesday Jul 2

Running (Rehab) 28:36 [1]
(injured) shoes: Saucony Grid Nitrous
Trails in Beecraigs.

Tuesday Jul 1

Cycling (Commute) 1:01:15 [3]19.58 km (3:08 / km)
(injured)
Cycling (Commute) 1:03:31 [3]17.69 km (3:35 / km)
(injured)
Struggling on hills today. Kinda windy..
Note
slept:6.0 (injured)
Back to work today. Knee aching after commute to work, but felt better as day went on. Fine on way home - hills just hard work.
Most stitches removed tonight - healing well.
