Event: West Point

Orienteering race 1:49:57 [3] **** 7.67 km (14:20 / km) +365m 11:35 / km
spiked:10/15c slept:8.0 shoes: VJ pro I
West Point day 1 Red Y. Foggy, raining. Navigated pretty well, with only a couple of overshots, but generally slow running, and not much strength for the uphills.
Orienteering race 28:44 [4] **** 2.9 km (9:54 / km) +100m 8:27 / km
spiked:15/16c shoes: VJ pro I
West Point Sprint. Great course by Peter Gagarin. Unfortunately it involved a hill which I just couldn't do after the morning race. No major mistakes, just bad route choice.

Thursday Apr 28

running (track) 30:51 [2] 3.5 mi (8:49 / mi)

Definitely felt like I was going slower than on the treadmill yesterday. Legs feel pretty good.

Tuesday Apr 26

treadmill 26:34 [3] 3.0 mi (8:51 / mi)
slept:6.0 shoes: asics GT-2090
Both tracks were occupied by various varsity teams, so I went with a treadmill. My sorenesses feel a lot better after the run. Oddly I felt like I was running harder/faster on the treadmill than I did on the track last week, even though the pace is supposedly the same.

Monday Apr 25

Note
slept:6.0 (rest day)
Pretty sore from soccer yesterday. Also picked up a couple of nasty bruises on my feet.

Sunday Apr 24

soccer (soccer) 45:00 [4]
slept:8.0 shoes: diadora tornates
MIT women's varsity soccer 7v7 coed tournament. Played 4 games, 2 goals, 2 assists. Lost in the championship match. Games were ~20 min each, separated by ~40 min. Legs were too tired to go all out.

Saturday Apr 23

Orienteering race (park-o) 29:21 [5] *** 4.68 km (6:16 / km)
spiked:13/15c slept:6.0 shoes: asics GT-2090
Mystic River Park-o. Went out too fast and had to slow down by #4, but having JJ on my tail most of the way helped me keep up a good pace. Had some trouble reading the map at the start and wasn't paying attention on #6, but otherwise a clean run.

Both calves are quite sore now.
running warm up/down (road/trail) 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: asics GT-2090

Wednesday Apr 20

running (track) 25:54 [2] 3.0 mi (8:38 / mi)
slept:7.0 shoes: asics GT-2090
I wanted to get a better feel for my E/L pace so I ran on the track. Legs felt really good. It was pretty hot even at 10:30am.

Tuesday Apr 19

running (road) 33:37 [2] **** 3.8 mi (8:51 / mi)
slept:8.5 shoes: asics GT-2090
Easy run down to the science museum and back along the other side of the river. Took a blown-up Hogencamp map with me. I think I was 45-60s fast in getting to Longfellow and the Science museum, which must mean I was correspondingly too slow coming back. Heels and calves were tired, I guess still from sunday, but otherwise felt pretty good.

Monday Apr 18

Note
slept:8.0 (rest day)

Sunday Apr 17

spiked:11/21c slept:8.0 shoes: VJ pro I
Red course at UNO College Woods. Didn't feel physically tired, although I was going real slow. Definitely wasn't awake, though, given the number of dumb mistakes I made. O-distance was 8km.
