Monday Apr 30

Note
Scheduled an appointment for next week to get the knee checked out. Wed. 5/9 @ 1:40pm.

Saturday Apr 28

Event: West Point A-Meet

Orienteering 1:03:00 [2] *** 6.5 km (9:42 / km) +150m 8:41 / km
spiked:10/12c slept:9.0 shoes: Adidas Novas
Opted out of West Point since I've got a lot of work and I'm in piss-poor shape. So, I went for some training at Hammond Pond instead. Pia and Lori showed up, too. I ran mostly with Pia, alternating legs and attempting to execute the whole leg by memory. All of the legs were 250m. It went pretty well; I definitely need to work on having a routine that includes knowing what the circle looks like. I found myself needing to look at the map too much.
cycling warm up/down 1:20:00 [2]
To/from Hammond Pond.
stretching warm up/down 15:00 [0]
strength 15:00 [2]
I have a rubber band that I got when I injured my IT band. I used it for some knee-stabilization stuff, which I should do regularly. Hopefully that will ward off any quad injury. Also did some back stuff.

Wednesday Apr 25

Event: CSU Boston Park Series - Cat Rock Park

Orienteering 1:15:00 [3] *** 9.38 km (8:00 / km) +200m 7:14 / km
shoes: Adidas Novas
Putting out and picking up controls for the Cat Rock Park-o. Wet day, but we had 18 people turn up. Had some mishaps with control logistics, so I ended up running the long loop twice, in somewhat of a mad frenzy to get the last control out before anyone arrived at it. Slightly more of a workout than I had planned on. Legs felt great.
stretching warm up/down 15:00 [0]
After I had taken a shower.

Tuesday Apr 24

stretching 10:00 [0]
strength 20:00 [3]
At Hemenway, more legs than usual.

Sunday Apr 22

cycling 35:00 [2]
To/from Pine Hill.
Orienteering 1:30:00 [2] ***
shoes: Adidas Novas
Training run at Pine Hill. A crowd (4) from MIT came, and I shadowed Vanessa. The woods actually weren't too bad yet.
Note
My IT band seems ok, but now my right quad is hinting at hurting the same way it did last summer. Probably I overdid it this weekend.

Saturday Apr 21

soccer (grass) 35:00 [2]
slept:7.0 shoes: diadora tornates
With the West Town Rockets at Danehy on the first warm day in a while. Was really tired, and sucked throughout. Tied 2-2. No IT pain.
running (road) 32:00 [2] 3.56 mi (8:59 / mi)
shoes: Gel Cumulus 2006
Didn't play much in this morning's game and it's such a nice day, so I went out for an evening run.
strength (grass) 6:00 [5]
shoes: Gel Cumulus 2006
5x20sec strides plus some calisthenics.
stretching warm up/down 10:00 [0]

Wednesday Apr 18

running (treadmill) 25:00 [2] 2.78 mi (8:59 / mi)
shoes: Grid Propel 2007
At Hemenway. Very slight IT pain towards the end (~23').
running (treadmill) 2:30 [5] 0.42 mi (5:57 / mi)
shoes: Grid Propel 2007
5x30sec strides.
stretching warm up/down 15:00 [0]

Saturday Apr 14

soccer (grass) 1:10:00 [2]
slept:7.0 shoes: diadora tornates
At Danehy with the West-Town Rockets. Won 5-0. Had some decent plays towards the end. Got kicked in the face:

Some IT pain towards the end.

Thursday Apr 12

soccer (indoor) 30:00 [5]
slept:6.0 shoes: sambas
Indoor playoffs out at Acton with the GSAS team. We lost in the semifinals. I played like crap for the most part. IT not really a problem.

Wednesday Apr 11

running 14:00 [2] 1.5 mi (9:20 / mi)
slept:6.0 weight:164lbs shoes: Grid Propel 2007
Morning run over at Hemmenway. Some IT pain, so I didn't run for too long.
running (treadmill) 2:00 [5] 0.33 mi (6:03 / mi)
shoes: Grid Propel 2007
4x30sec strides.
stretching warm up/down 10:00 [0]
Note
Sunday my knee/hip/lower back was quite sore, so I stretched out my hamstring. I stretched for about a minute total, in 10sec chunks. I bent my head down towards my chest as far as it would go, breathed in, and held. Afterwards, there was a complete transition in my back from tight and painful to totally loose and awesome-feeling. My suspicion is that I had a pinched nerve and the stretching wiggled it into place or something (I had noticed a numbness in my big toe, which is now gone). Apparently it wasn't a miracle cure for my IT band, but that does seem to be feeling better so perhaps it was related.

Saturday Apr 7

soccer (grass) 1:00:00 [2]
shoes: diadora tornates
Game with the GSAS team out at Danehy park. I played pretty badly, not helped by the muddy field. IT hurts a bit.

Sunday Apr 1

Orienteering (map hike) 1:29:41 [1] ***
spiked:15/16c slept:3.0 shoes: Grid Propel 2007
Green course at Fair Hill. Still IT band pain, so I just walked it. Jogged real slow for some 20-sec spurts here and there, but that was probably a bad idea. I guess I should be harder on myself in terms of spike standards when I'm walking. Maybe I'll think more about that later.
