Sunday Jan 30

soccer (indoor) 25:00 [5]
shoes: sambas
Soccer with grad students. Played the first half in goal.

Thursday Jan 27

strength 30:00 [3]
slept:3.0
upper body workout with Dan. Had to get some tension out after 3 days straight of coding for 6.370.

Tuesday Jan 25

treadmill (warm up/cool down) 7:00 [2] 0.75 mi (9:20 / mi)
shoes: asics GT-2090
treadmill 10:00 [5] 1.5 mi (6:40 / mi)
shoes: asics GT-2090

Monday Jan 24

elliptical 15:00 [1] 1.15 mi (13:02 / mi)
(rest day) shoes: asics GT-2090
cycling (machine) 25:00 [1] 3.9 mi (6:24 / mi)
(rest day) shoes: asics GT-2090
knee isn't feeling much better, but it's not worse either.

Sunday Jan 23

running (snow) 15:38 [3] 2.4 km (6:31 / km)
(rest day) shoes: asics GT-2090
14F, 25mph winds and 26" of snow is no reason to stay inside. Ran around MIT's campus and was surprised to find the sidewalk along the river to be recently plowed. Had to stop running at one point since the snow was too deep, but otherwise an enjoyable if short run. Good excuse for a rest day.
Note
my right groin is sore from yesterday and my right knee has been a bit sore in general. I guess I'll try to back off the intensity for a few days and give it a rest.

Saturday Jan 22

stretching 10:00 [1]
shoes: asics GT-2090
before, between, after workout.
elliptical 21:00 [5]
shoes: asics GT-2090
3min fartleks, so 3 min on at 6 incline, 6 resistance, then 3 min off at 3/3 and 130-150 strides/min.
strides/min when on (approx. range):
180-190
186-194
190-200
160-175
elliptical (with map) 15:21 [3]
shoes: asics GT-2090
Ran the first half of another course on the Hogencamp map. Focused on planning a route for ~15 secs, then trying to remember it for the rest of the leg, glancing occasionally at the map. Pace counted. Total "distance" (according to the map): 2.34km
elliptical (warmup/cooldown) 9:00 [2]
shoes: asics GT-2090
5min before and 4min after the fartlek workout.

Friday Jan 21

treadmill 10:00 [5] 1.2 mi (8:20 / mi)
shoes: asics GT-2090
the treadmills at Zesiger work in a peculiar manner, so my first 10 minutes was 5 min warm up then 3 min at 9mi/hr and then 2 min jogging. . .
treadmill (with map) 33:00 [4] 4.1 mi (8:02 / mi)
shoes: asics GT-2090
. . . then I switched to a different treadmill and ran a course Lori drew on a blown up version of the Hogencamp Mt. map (1:6666 scale courtesy of the lady at copytech). 8mi/hr pace for 14 minutes, and I "finished" the course. Walked at 4mi/hr for 2 minutes, then ran the course backwards, again at 8mi/hr, but made slower progress (I tried pace counting to estimate distance and I decided I was estimating the distances to be too small the first time around). Stopped after 14 minutes with roughly 15% left and jogged for 3 minutes to cool down.
stretching 10:00 [1]
shoes: asics GT-2090
after the treadmill workout.

Thursday Jan 20

swimming/DWR 20:00 [3]

Wednesday Jan 19

treadmill 46:00 [3] 5.2 mi (8:51 / mi)
shoes: asics GT-2090

Tuesday Jan 18

elliptical 30:00 [3]
shoes: asics GT-2090
I'm not really sure how to rate the intensity on this since it gave my legs a good workout but I found it hard to get my heartrate up. Includes 10min warmup/cooldown.
soccer (indoor) 1:20:00 [4]
shoes: sambas
On the MAC court w/ Bexley people.

Sunday Jan 16

running (road) 30:00 [1] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: asics GT-2090
strapped on a suit of under armor, ran over to Simmons, met up with Lori, jogged across the BU bridge and back to Mass ave, dropped Lori off at Simmons, ran back to Bexley. 3 mi? I've got an indoor game with the grad students tonight, so hopefully this didn't detract from my energy level tonight.
soccer (indoor) 40:00 [5]
shoes: sambas
With grad students on the JAC track field. Played a lot harder than I've played in a while. 50 minute game, but I subbed out a couple of times.

Friday Jan 14

soccer (indoor) 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: sambas
Indoor with simmons on the MAC court. My legs were tired from the sudden activity of the past few days. I got pretty beat-up, too; several bruises. Hopefully they'll be fine in a couple of days when I'm supposed to play again.

Wednesday Jan 12

swimming/DWR 25:00 [2]

Tuesday Jan 11

soccer (indoor) 1:20:00 [4]
shoes: sambas
10 minutes on, 5 minutes off. With Bexley people on the MAC court.
