C • So I saw in your injury list t... 2

Friday Jan 26

stretching 30:00 [0]
Throughout the day. IT band still sore.

Thursday Jan 25

erg 5:00 [3]
shoes: Grid Propel 2007
running (treadmill) 7:00 [2] 0.75 mi (9:20 / mi)
shoes: Grid Propel 2007
Started running and a sharp pain developed on the outside of my left knee within 3'. Very painful, and didn't diminish quickly enough for me to run through it, so I stopped. Hurt a little while I was walking back to my office afterwards.
Note
(injured)
Yeah, so I'm 99% sure this pain is my IT band. Hurts like a bitch walking around. Climbing stairs is excruciatingly painful. Cycling seems to be more or less okay.
stretching 10:00 [0]
In the evening.

Wednesday Jan 24

strength 30:00 [4]
weight:165lbs shoes: Gel Cumulus 2006
Full circuit.

Tuesday Jan 23

cycling (stationary recumbent) 1:05:00 [2]
ahr:150 weight:165lbs shoes: Gel Cumulus 2006
HR is a guess. Legs were sore yesterday and a bit today, feel great after the workout. Quads were sore for the first 20' or so, then loosened up.
stretching warm up/down 15:00 [0]
Stretching out the legs plus some lower back exercises.

Sunday Jan 21

running long (trail) 1:35:14 [2] * 10.58 mi (9:00 / mi)
slept:8.0 shoes: Adidas Novas
In Weston by Regis College with Ross and the Saegers. Felt really good, given that it's longer than I've run in a really long time.

These shoes are awesome, except that the insoles slide up the heel. Maybe I'll just glue them in.

Friday Jan 19

strength 30:00 [4]
weight:166lbs
Upper only. Weight post-workout pre-dinner.

Thursday Jan 18

running (treadmill) 25:00 [3] 2.65 mi (9:26 / mi)
shoes: Gel Cumulus 2006
Was going to do another long bike workout, but I forgot that the gym is really busy at 6pm. Was signed up for 30 minutes, but the guy next to me had unbelievably bad BO. Not a normal type of BO, either; it really smelled like he was rotting. No less than 3 women cycled through the treadmill on the other side of him, and I don't think they were all warming up for something else. Anyhow, quit 5 minutes early and moved to the stationary bike.
cycling (stationary recumbent) 25:00 [2]
ahr:142 weight:163lbs shoes: Gel Cumulus 2006
Stopped a few minutes before I had planned to because of some intermittent knee soreness. Weight is post-workout, pre-dinner.

Tuesday Jan 16

cycling (stationary recumbent) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Gel Cumulus 2006

Monday Jan 15

strength 30:00 [4]
Take-home final and then mystery hunt killed my plans for last week. Back to normal now.

Tuesday Jan 9

cycling (stationary recumbent) 43:00 [2]
max:158 weight:167lbs shoes: Gel Cumulus 2006
Whatever runs up my inner thigh and connects my groin to my knee was tight for the first 20' or so, in both legs. Same part that has been giving me problems (or at least some of the problems). Then it loosened up, and I was able to stretch quite satisfactorily afterwards. Left quad was sore walking around afterwards.

Weight is pre-dinner, ~9pm. Kind of heavy, I think.
stretching warm up/down 10:00 [0]
Afterwards. Didn't notice this zero intensity before.

Sunday Jan 7

elliptical 30:00 [2] 3.29 mi (9:07 / mi)
max:148 weight:166lbs shoes: Gel Cumulus 2006
In the evening, ~10pm.

Saturday Jan 6

erg 5:00 [2] 1.2 km (4:10 / km)
shoes: Gel Cumulus 2006
elliptical 35:00 [2] 3.65 mi (9:36 / mi)
max:157 shoes: Gel Cumulus 2006
Not sure about the machine's hrm, but maybe max hr is close to true. Left calf has been really sore since I ran on Thursday.

Thursday Jan 4

running (treadmill) 25:00 [2] 2.75 mi (9:05 / mi)
slept:8.0 weight:165lbs shoes: Gel Cumulus 2006
At Hemmenway. Stopped halfway through to stretch. Possible arch problem in left foot, very slight though.
stretching warm up/down 5:00 [1]

Wednesday Jan 3

strength 15:00 [1]
upper-back.

Tuesday Jan 2

erg warm up/down 3:00 [3] 0.75 km (4:00 / km)
Really short warm-up.
strength 30:00 [3]
Circuit at Hemmenway.
elliptical warm up/down 20:00 [2]
shoes: Gel Cumulus 2006
cool-down afterwards.
Note
Right quad thingie feels mostly okay, but fragile. I guess we'll see how it goes, but I'm taking myself off the injury list. Doing nothing over the break seemed to help out a lot. I cut out pretty much all walking and standing. Also engaged in some breathing lessons I learned in tai chi a few years ago, and I think that helped open up the capillaries, get some increased blood flow, and loosen things up.

Monday Jan 1

Note
I think I'll start training again, so here are some goals for 2007:

1. Stay healthy.
2. Sub-5:15 1600m. (PR in high school was something like 5:30)
3. Sub-18:00 5000m.
4. Within 10% of leader on a middle-distance A-day.
5. Within 20% of leader on a long-distance A-day.
6. Win a CSU Park-O.

I think 2-6 should be possible as long as 1 happens.
