Event: Bubba Goat

Orienteering race (goat) 1:38:06 [4] *** 11.63 km (8:26 / km) +417m 7:09 / km
spiked:21/23c slept:10.0 weight:162lbs shoes: asics GT-2090
Bubba Goat at Umstead South (camp Whispering Pines). We didn't go much above Crabtree Creek, but the US Team A-meet will have to venture into the southern part to have a reasonable length blue course for both days, so this event was quite relevant (not that I have any business at a WRE).

Managed to squeak in the win with less than a 1 second margin of victory over David Curry. Admittedly, he dropped his punch card and had to jog an extra ~1k to retrieve it, so I should have been second. Very clean run. The non-spiked controls were one 30 second error and one non-optimal route choice. Yes! I can do an Orange course without screwing up!

Arches gave no problems. Wore tights, which was nice. Not much greenery at this time of the year.
Orienteering (control pick-up) 34:30 [3] *** 3.28 km (10:31 / km) +110m 9:00 / km

Picking up some controls after the Bubba Goat. Arches still held up, which actually I was a bit surprised about.

Bubba Goat - Splits

Polk-Clifton-Brookside. Kind of chilly for Raleigh in March, but it's supposed to be 57F tomorrow, so should be nice for the Bubba Goat.

Monday Mar 20

basketball 40:00 [4]

Bexley IM game. We lost, despite my 6 points, 3 steals and a few rebounds, a personal high, but not exactly B-league calibre.
