Walking 1:43:26 [2]
Exploring the bush trails out the back of Ashtonfield again, hoping that my achilles will sometime soon feel like it may be coming good. Have noticed that I don't like being overtaken by another walker - will need to stay on the bush trails as much as possible to avoid the humiliation.

Wednesday Oct 29

Street Orienteering race 47:26 [2]
Disciplined enough to walk all the time today - very hard when it is so flat, and when you know you will lose points for being late. Great course around Stockton from rockman, and apparently a walk down memory lane in terms of his childhood. Seemed like a great turn out also.

Tuesday Oct 28

Walking 1:17:26 [2]
At the moment the achilles is winning - bit ashamed to log walking as training, but I like to see colours on my log graph. Explored the bush trails out the back of Ashtonfield. Got a bit geographically embarrassed a couple of times and got back in the dark. It's very interesting out the back of Ashtonfield.

Sunday Oct 26

Warm Up/Warm Down warm up/down (warm up) 5:00 [1]
Walked down to 'the Linkages' estate.
Running 28:00 [2]
Repeated yesterday's effort, but did not finish feeling anywhere near as positive. Had lil nic on her bike for company again - which was good.
Warm Up/Warm Down warm up/down (warmdown) 10:00 [1]
Walked home / stretch.

Saturday Oct 25

Warm Up/Warm Down warm up/down (warm up) 5:15 [1]
Brisk walk down to 'the Linkages' estate - more flat dirt trail repetitions today, and hopefully slower and pain free!
Running 30:00 [2]
10 repetitions, 1 every 3 minutes. Malcolm R happened along during the 3rd one, and decided to do the rest with me - great company and great chat. Lil nic also arrived on her hand-me-down from Joshwa bike, and was also great company - and appeared to be having a good time as well. Got through pain free, though at the pace I was moving discomfort would have been shattering.
Warm Up/Warm Down warm up/down (warm down) 8:30 [1]
Walked home, resistance work, stretch - decided to try and repeat this session some time tomorrow. Would like to give Stockton a little bit more of a go this Wednesday - not much contour detail north side of the harbour!

Wednesday Oct 22

Street Orienteering race 42:00 [2]
Great map, great course - but windy, wet at times, and steep in most parts. I wasn't going to be able to milk many points out of today - 21 the best I could do!. What a tapestry of life from Steveo with some of the questions I answered anyway - a pool parlour, Fanny's Nite Club 'Ralph' magazine promotion, pie shop and totem poles. Had quite a chuckle at different times during the course wondering if Steveo was providing a little glimpse into the life of an M25!!??

Tuesday Oct 21

Warm Up/Warm Down warm up/down (warm up) 10:00 [2]
Running patterns, ladder drills, stretch - trying to do something a little more ballistic with the achilles.
Running 16:36 [3]
Out at Walka - a lap and a bit more around the lake. Nice and flat, and trying to take up the speed a little, but injury not happy in the last couple of minutes!!
Warm Up/Warm Down warm up/down (warm down) 10:00 [1]
Stretch, resistance work. Very disappointed by the end of this session - back to square one for sure. Clearly rushing - more patience is going to be crucial. At least I enjoyed Walka, and the company of Joshwa..

Sunday Oct 19

Orienteering race 55:24 [3] *** 4.3 km (12:53 / km) +165m 10:49 / km
spiked:11/12c
Final NOY for the year at 'Palmers Creek Quarry' / 1: 10 000. Heat was a real challenge, even given desire to spare the achilles any uphill running - but did run flats and down hills, and seem to have come out of it unscathed. Really enjoyed the course, and plenty to be happy about with my navigation. Left early, but there seemed to be another strong turn out for a club bush event today.

Saturday Oct 18

Cycling (Road) 36:20 [3]
Two laps of my Ashtonfield street circuit. I am not a great cyclist!
Running 24:00 [2]
Walked down to the 'Linkages' estate and did 6 run throughs on a flat dirt track. 1:45 to 2 mins of effort / 2 mins recovery. Very cautiously trying to feel confident enough to run a bit quicker - not all that convincing today!

Wednesday Oct 15

Street Orienteering race 45:46 [2]
First Summer Series event for 08/09. Swansea in a very flat area, and thankfully I don't seem to have agitated the achilles any further.

Wednesday Oct 8

Cycling (Road) 57:07 [3]
Three laps of my Ashtonfield 'street circuit' on a very pleasant afternoon.

Monday Oct 6

Cycling (Road) 34:49 [3]
Casual ride around Ashtonfield with Joshwa (at times) and lil nic. It's going to take some time to get used to this form of exercise again!

Sunday Oct 5

Orienteering race 1:00:43 [3] *** 4.8 km (12:39 / km) +120m 11:15 / km
spiked:25/30c
Club minor event / 60 minute score course / 'Jigadee Jog' / 1:10 000.
Really enjoyable event organised by Rob and Julia, including a pre-marked score course map!! Really beneficial in terms of orienteering skills, yet a nice low key affair given the recent hustle and bustle of competition.
Given achilles problems, have designated October as a ride/walk/swim month - just to see if I can settle the problem down - hope I have the self discipline - I found it hard to just walk today.
Had to laugh though - still couldn't spike all controls I visited, and got the exit direction wrong twice as well!!!
Saw a lot of lil nic - she was handling the red/orange navigation well. However, she discovered the world of the leech today, and did not enjoy what she discovered. About 60 people in attendance ( 1000 times more leeches though! ), which is a pleasing attendance during the holidays at a minor event ( people, not leeches ).
