Event: NSW Middle Distance Champs

Warm Up/Warm Down warm up/down (warm up) 10:00 [2]
A little haphazard in amongst setting up the Carbines shop, but tried to make time for a couple of jogging efforts.

NSW Middle Distance Champs / 'Baronga Creek' / 1:10 000. The technical challenge and physically tough vegetation (at times) caught me by surprise. By my standards had 15 good legs. Not surprisingly though, when I stuffed a control, I did a good job of it in this type of terrain. 3 big chunks of time were lost, and I finished up way down the list of finishers. Plenty to be happy about though.
Warm Up/Warm Down warm up/down (warm down) 5:00 [1]
Slow jog back to the car - pretty ordinary effort given there is another run tomorrow.

Friday Aug 22

Running 29:57 [3]
Short run around Ashtonfield.
Warm Up/Warm Down warm up/down (warm down) 15:00 [1]
Extended jog and stretching.

Wednesday Aug 20

Running tempo 1:10:51 [4]
Longer run around Ashtonfield on a pleasant afternoon.
Warm Up/Warm Down warm up/down (warm down) 15:00 [1]
Jog, resistance work, stretch. (I think Angus has his 'habit' under control!)

Sunday Aug 17

Orienteering (Course Setting) 1:30:44 [3] ***
Out at 'Rural Acres' - finalising placement of controls for todays club event. Magnificent weather.
Orienteering (Course Setting) 1:08:35 [2] ***
Collecting controls. About 60 starters - not too bad, but on a great day on such a different style of Newcastle map can't help but think that an hours drive to Singleton is a problem for many. Think the courses were well received - regret leaving control 2 on the green course - nearly took it out last night - feedback suggests it was not a good control. Ah well - you live and learn. Very enjoyable, but very long day.
