'the Chimney' / 1: 10000. Placing controls for todays NSW junior squad training exercises. Coach Darvo set a series of short courses in the intricate watercourse / erosion gully detail, control descriptions but no codes provided, with decoy controls on similar nearby features. This was followed by a compass only course - running a bearing needs work for many. Then some bush running technique / "straight and smooth" was the message for the kids. A really enjoyable and productive day - thanks Darvo.

Collecting controls after todays training exercises. Plenty of assistance today from parents, so not a lot of work to do as far as control collection is concerned - or placing controls for that matter.

Got home in time to watch the final quarter of the Cats versus Eagles. One side winning by almost 100 points, Eagles couldn't get a possession, Geelong did stuff all with the ball at times other than keepings off. OK - I only saw one quarter, but what a shocking advertisement for AFL 2008!! Finished up watching Randwick versus Easts Union game on the ABC. Is it possible that the Cats are bad for football?

Ran around Kazza's street 'O' course from 2005, then added a little bit more to get the time up to 80 mins. Felt good today and worked hard, though the legs, and particularly the knees, had well and truly had enough by the time I got home.

Again found it hard to do a sound warm up - plenty of Carbines shop gear to set up again to-day. A couple of bouts of jogging.

NSW SL 12 / 'Arthursleigh' / 1:15 000. Very pleasing effort. Read the contours well, and thought I simplified well also. Got a bit tired towards the end, which was frustrating because my map contact was good, but couldn't make the most of it. Great weather / terrific area - just like a par on the 18th after 21 miserable stableford points, this was the sort of day that brings you back to the next 'O' event!!
