Thursday Jul 31

Running 34:03 [3] 6.7 km (5:05 / km)
Decided to slow the pace down for todays run, turned out to be a great desicion, really enjoyed the slow pace, was tempted to speed up in places but i managed to tell myself not to.
Nice not to go too hard every so often.
Warm up/ down (Stretching) 8:00 [1]
only warm down today, again stretching and slow jog when i got back

Wednesday Jul 30

Running 1:04:05 [4] 13.7 km (4:41 / km)
Had time for a longer run today, so took advantage and did just that. didn't feel all that great, took my time. feel good now though. good training for city 2 surf.
C • nice 2
Running (warm up) 5:00 [2]
just a quick warm up jog.
Warm up/ down (Stretching) 20:00 [1]
nice long stretch before i left, and a solid one when i got back. 10 mins each.

Tuesday Jul 29

Running 29:40 [4] 6.7 km (4:26 / km)
So i had a pretty crap day at school, really long and boring, and i wasn't very motivated to run when i got home. so i motivated myself up and decided to go for a 30 min run. felt pretty good, glad i went now.
Running (Warm down) 10:00 [2]
just some jogging up and down afterwards to warm down
Warm up/ down (Stretching) 15:00 [1]
did 5 mins of stretching before i left, and another 10 when i got back. probably should do more warm up, but i never seem to have the time

Monday Jul 28

Note
(rest day)
So i was going to run today cause i felt like it, but it was raining and i'm soft, and i had a large afternoon tea that wasn't sitting right and my friend got his p's so he was driving me around for a while. enough excuses for everbody?

Sunday Jul 27

MTB Orienteering race (NSW Champs) 1:24:07 [5] ** 21 km (4:00 / km)
Won again on same map, but bigger area. again though i was the only one in category. everyone else was too scared!!. came about 4th on the medium course today, so still pleased. had a quick ride i thought.

Discovered a place in Nowra overnight that does great pasta. did some carbo loading in the mall whilst they had nrl playing through some nearby speakers for some reason.

Saturday Jul 26

MTB Orienteering race (Sprint) 18:58 [5] ** 5 km (3:48 / km)
Sprint course at Nowra for nsw mtbo champs. won the M16, but i was the only one in it. came second on my course which was the short one, so pretty happy. had a good ride.
MTB Orienteering (Control collection) 30:00 [3] **
went out afterwards to collect some controls. probably did more riding here then i did in the actual course

Friday Jul 25

Exercise bike 20:00 [5]
went to the gym in my dads apartment complex. got on the bike there and put in 20 mins on the hilliest course. really hard, absolutely buggered by end. pushed quite hard.
Running 5:00 [4] 1 km (5:00 / km)
run on treadmill now, had speed on 12km/h, got bored after 5 mins
Gym (weights) 5:00 [3]
did some bench presses, again got bored quickly. arm strength isn't great either
Swimming 15:00 [3]
did some laps to warm down a bit, some fast ones, some slow ones, some really slow ones....

Thursday Jul 24

Note
(rest day)
so i had a rest day, because i wanted to rest my knee and it was raining anyway. yep i'm soft but i don't care.
Oh and today we watched this dvd in SLR on orienteering. i thought it was ok but it was repetitive and i cringed in some places at the explanations, like they were good but i thought they made them slightly more complicated then they actually were. funny though.
C • SLR 12

Wednesday Jul 23

Running 40:55 [4] 9 km (4:33 / km)
ok so i went for a longer run, which turned out to be 2 laps of the 4.5 k course i had from yesterday. didn't go as hard, did 20mins for first lap and 20mins 55 secs for the second. afternoon tea was sitting a bit heavy in stomach but that was ok. knee still clicking and even hurt a little bit, may rest tommorow because of this.
C • that doesnt sound good :( 2
Warm up/ down (Stretching/ jog) 20:00 [1]
did a bit of a jog and a stretch before leaving, and a stretch when i got back. 10 mins each.

Tuesday Jul 22

Running 18:17 [5] 4.5 km (4:04 / km)
ran out of time so only short run today. but short run was good. went about as hard as i can go, pretty happy with time. althogh have discovered that my left knee, that began to hurt at the end of the camp, clicks when i run. don't think that is good. but oh well. i finish early tommorrow so i might get a longer slower run tommorow.
C • Hmmm. 10
Warm up/ down (Stretching) 10:00 [1]
okay so i skipped my warm up, because daylight was fading fast, had a nice stretch when i got back though

Monday Jul 21

Note
(rest day)
Feel funny putting this down as a rest day, as i have a suspiscion that my training will drop off with school going back. Going to attempt to do regular runs but not sure with time restraints. eg going to school in newcastle and living in maitland makes things difficult.
Went for a walk today and nearly got blown over by the wind. its pretty intense right now.
oh and cold is all but gone. yay
C • Maybe 12
C • wat school do u go to? 11

Sunday Jul 20

Running 46:00 [3] 6.7 km (6:52 / km)
(sick)
Really unhappy with this run, went out too hard, didn't warm up so i was really stiff, knee was hurting, had a massive stitch for ages and it was right when i would have liked lunch, which meant i had no energy in the tank. almost over my cold, but still a bit blocked up and i also felt really light headed whilst running.
As a result of all these i walked a lot and attempted to run other parts, but having no energy really didn't help.
C • awww :( 4

Saturday Jul 19

Mountain biking 1:40:00 [3] 19 km (5:16 / km)
(sick)
Due to a mistake concerning the date of the NSW mtbo champs, we happened to have our bikes with us in Canberra, so we stopped in overnight and went out to Sparrow Hill for a ride today. hadn't ridden there since an 8 hour race a couple of years ago, and the tracks were fantastic. freezing in the forest though which plus lack of warm layers for me caused us to bail earlier, but my hands and feet were numb the whole time, and i was sick of that after being cold for 2 weeks now. so we left early and drove back home to newcastle, where i broke a sweat bringing stuff inside because it was so warm here.
oh and my cold worsened again this morning, really felt miserable which may have contributed to bailing as well.
Note
i logged everything in 1 go, so there may be some stuff missing that i couldn't remember. but oh well
C • Ok! I went skiing for a wee... 14

Friday Jul 18

Skiing (Resort/ downhill) 4:30:00 [3]
(sick)
Back to the resort for the last day, and the weather was shocking. i was cold and my face was numb from being blasted by snow and wind. legs hurting a little thanks to yarrandoo, a black run that was a bit bumpy. did a longer day but had a lot more breaks inside to escape the weather. but skied most of the resort and a lot of the runs to maximise lift ticket. almost over sickness, still feel a bit woozy but my body cant wait to escape the cold weather, havent had anything above about 7 for almost 2 weeks now.

Thursday Jul 17

Skiing (Cross country) 3:30:00 [3]
(sick)
Hiked up from Dead Horse Gap to Leather Barrel Creek. Wind was bad and so was cold, so we dropped into bogong creek for a ski and lunch, before bailing altogether due to unpleasantness. snow was nice though. still sick but getting better

Wednesday Jul 16

Note
(sick) (rest day)
we were going to hike out to Schlink hut today and camp out for 2 nights but my cold worsened and my body was really sore and tired. so we had a rest day in which we slept in, read a book and drove out the Alpine way to Tom Groggin, where we stood on the Murray and threw rocks at Victoria

Tuesday Jul 15

Skiing (Cross country) 5:00:00 [3]
(sick)
Hiked from Guthega up two thirds of mount Twynam, poor visilbility forced us to not go to the top. found a nice slope to repeat ski, snow was really nice. really physically exhausted now from repeat exercise, reached endurance limit i think. also coming down with a cold.

Monday Jul 14

Skiing (Resort/ downhill) 4:30:00 [3]
Skiing at Perisher Blue. wanted to maximise ski time on expensive lift ticket, so we went hard, attempting to do as many runs over the resort as possible. legs a bit sore afterwards as we skied mostly blue and black runs. really physically tired though.

Sunday Jul 13

Orienteering race 54:02 [5] *** 5.9 km (9:09 / km)
shoes: Teva shoes
State League 10 at Belango. was worried about competition but had a good run, only stuffed up 7 and felt good despite the fact i was buggered from the week leading up. happy with time, glad to take lead back in SL pointscore

Saturday Jul 12

Orienteering race 35:00 [5] **
Pairs relay at bloomfield park. went really hard to get best possible times, really happy to have shared winning time with Josh on course A

Friday Jul 11

Orienteering race (Camp Champs) 1:07:00 [5] *** 7.6 km (8:49 / km)
Camp Champs on Oaky Creek. Had first start so went hard to ensure no one caught me. went a bit slow around 8 and 9, did well in everything else. amazed at robs run.

Thursday Jul 10

Orienteering (relocation pairs) 50:00 [5] ***
shoes: Teva shoes
Pairs relocation with Josh. went really hard, not sure about length i'm guessing it was this long overall? really tired afterwards
Orienteering (Map memory) 9:36 [5] **
Map memory, went hard, collected controls etc
Orienteering (bush intervals) 30:00 [5] **
Bush intervals with the muddy creek. really smashed after this

Wednesday Jul 9

Orienteering (Relocation) 35:00 [3] ***
shoes: Teva shoes
Relocation exercise on Ophir north. led Glen around to try to get him lost. didn't work. went a bit slower as glen had a blocked nose and we tried to space ourselves from other teams.
Orienteering (Map memory) 25:00 [4] ***
shoes: Teva shoes
Led Glen in map memory. Much faster and Glen did really well.
Orienteering (Pack run) 41:00 [4] ***
shoes: Teva shoes
Senior boys pack run on both Ophir north and south. went maybe a little too hard but oh well. cold when we took shirts off. cold overall
Orienteering 25:00 [4] ***
shoes: Teva shoes
star relay on Ophir south. really really cold, and i got lost when i was collecting the controls. really tired after that

Tuesday Jul 8

Orienteering race 38:26 [5] **
shoes: Teva shoes
Lake Canobolas score course. cleared it in 38 mins, was happy with this. sleet and clod did not make fun

Monday Jul 7

Event: NSW Junior Squad Training Camp

Sunday Jul 6

Orienteering race 1:17:39 [5] *** 6.2 km (12:31 / km)
spiked:10/18c shoes: Teva shoes
NOY 6 at O'Donneltown. had a pretty good run, hit 1 to 4 ok, then made an ok route choice to 5, but probably not the best, hit 6 to 8 well, then nearly died going up the enormous hill to 9. Stuffed around at 10, tried to go rockclimbing to 11, got a bit stuck between cliffs actually. came from high to 11, couldn't find it, stuffed around, then finally relocated which is what i should have done immediately, hit 11 then spiked the last 7 controls. not too bad, fairly happy considering enormous hills and the fact that i probably went further then the course distance. good training for camp :-)
C • did you know?... 3
