| the pe department at my school decided to clean out the old gym. and by gym i mean a shed out the back with some equipment in it. went there in my first period free and spun circles on the exercise bike for half an hour, then spent 10 mins trying to get less sweaty for my next period. which basically involved sitting in some sort of a breeze. so hot already at 9 30 in the morning! | ||

| just went out easy but i picked up about halfway and just settled into a continous pace that i could plug away at. felt fair good, pulled up well from street o so thats good. saw massive amount of trick a treaters, i even got stopped whilst running and asked for some!!
oh and how hot was it! i went out at 6 30 and it was still hot! suffered slightly at the end. silly me played soccer at lunch in pretty much top temp. | ||

| Street o at stockton. went faily well, a little sore but it was all good. saw josh a lot out there, especially in the south and later part of the course. appreciated his comment as we were passing of "Alex has bad route choice!" got them all except for 1P. i went
1A 2A 1B 1C 1E 3A 1F 2C 1H 2E 1J 2F 1K 2G 1L 3C 1Q 1R 2H 3F 1V 1U 3D 1T 3E 1S 1N 1M 3B 2D 1G 1D 2B finish in 44 40 with 53 points. came second in the end to steve, although i should have come third, because technically josh beat me. but i was sitting in first for ages and i got really excited, but steve cleaned the course and had extra time, so he will get extra points as well. nice and cool and flat, it was fun. | ||

| had a great run today. but it was really hot! played about 40 mins of intense soccer in about 32 degrees at lunch today. so i was slightly tired. still really hot at 5 in the afternoon when i ran, so i took it easy. no problems, except the heat got to me a bit and i walked a few sections, especially ones in the shade :)

Sunday Oct 26 | ||

| so half way round i thought to myself, this is the best run ive had all week. from then on i jinxed it. left home feeling slightly dizzy and with a slight headache, but that disappeared 2ks in. for the next 2ks i had no problems, then for the next 2ks i felt like i badly needed the toilet. that disappeared for a 1k, then the last 3, everything above hit me plus i felt like i was going to throw up. so for about 1.5ks, i walked/jogged, and for the last 1.6, i walked because it was getting worse. don't know why this happened, wasn't pushing overly hard. bit disappointed as i was on track for about 43 mins, and i had to watch that time slip away. started at about intensity 4, but finished on 2, so i logged it as 3.
feeling really terrible right now. but i feel great physically. | ||

| yeah so i haven't been having good runs lately, well except for wednesdays. this is another example. went out at a steady pace and still struggled, when i know i can manage this run no problems. think it may have been the heat as it was mid afternoon and everyone else seemed to be shut in their air conditioned homes, then outside running. going to try again tomorrow to see if i can improve. | ||

| yeah so the weather was just awful. windy as. but the course was brilliant. i had no idea which way to go, and had to stop to replan many times. in the end i went 1E 3B 2F 1F 3C 1H 2G 2L 3F 1W 2K 3H 2J 1V 1U 1S 1Q 1K 3E 1J 3D 2H 1P finish in 44 56, with 41 points. was pretty excited, as i was coming 3rd for ages, with my dad and glen burgess in front on time only by about 20 something seconds. also i beat josh on foot for the first time ever, but only on time. so me dad glen and josh looked set to all take 100 each, because we were all on 41, then arthur came in on 43. so i ended up 4th overall. but i'm still v happy :) | ||

| gah. not very good either. i have decided that morning runs suck. i still may carry on to see if it improves, but most of the time i lack motivation and energy, and that seemed like the longest 30 mins for me this morning. again went slow and walked some sections. | ||

| yeah so i decided to trial running in the morning. thought i would have breakfast when i got back, which meant i was lacking energy. and i had a IG and H headwind for the first half, over the hills, which meant i had little energy for the second part, so i walked some sections. cut out some distance, was going to be 14 and a bit, but i couldn't face the breakwall in the wind.
the verdict is, eat breakfast before running and do shorter runs | ||

| yeah so NOY 8 at Palmers creek quarry. got there from two trains and a fair amount of walking, to find that most people were already out on course. started at about 10 48, just so i could run in the increasing heat. it was just like queensland all over. wasn't all that enthusiastic and decided to take it easy and work on my nav. so went slowly or so i thought for a while, until i caught people, which is where i picked up the pace. the last quarter was soooo hot and hilly, i even walked parts because i couldn't be bothered. felt quite smashed at the end, yet still surprised to find that my time was reasonable, only 3 27 behind josh, although i dont know whether he had a great run or not. steve todkill and rob vincent were still out when i left, i fully expect them to beat me. but i'm still happy overall. oh and despite my vague nav today, no mistakes :)
oh and i was amused around 5 - 6 as i had been to both sites before back at my very first newcastle junior elites training camp. which actually wasn't all that long ago. if you count a year and a bit, possibly 2 as not long ago | ||

| still a bit sore, so decided to have a flog on the exercise bike in the gym at my dads apartment. put it on a fair hilly setting, because it has courses you can choose, ad put the difficulty on the hardest. it was actually quite hard, and i got out of the saddle for a minute or 2 every 5 or so. not very far according to the bike, but it was hard and hilly. | ||

| First event of newcastles summer street series at swansea. and it was flat. i was pretty tired and sore when i got there from my slr camp that morning and the day before, but still managed the run okay. well at least i think. for people that were there, i went 1K 1L 1S 2B 3C 1M 1R 3B 1N 2C 1J 2H 2I 1B 1D 1E 2G 2A 3E 2J 2F 2D 3D 1I 2E 1T 1H finish. only had a problem with 1H which i couldn't see the number. didn't really cost me as i reckon i would have been 5 secs late which ended up being 50 secs. so not really a big deal. score was 45 - 1, which makes 44. reallyyyyy sore now, and a bit disappointed that i had to run super early then leave pretty much straight away, which meant i didn't see where i placed overall, or really see anyone. but i will next week :)

| so i noticed that newcastles summer street series was starting on wednesday, and that i wouldn't be able to train tomorrow due to a overnight slr camp, so i decided to practice for street o. went slowly but still managed to die about halfway round. took some of alinta's advice and walked up the hills, and perhaps on some of the flats too. but no more until wednesday arvo at swansea now. | ||

| woke up about half past 3, and went out at 4 40 in the morning. went real fast, but got stuck behind slow people yet again who wouldn't let me past. really getting tired now | ||

| i had to start for our team, which meant sprinting down to your bike and taking off, with every one else which was a couple hundred people. which meant i was stuck in traffic. this lap went up mt stromlo then back down again. fair good start. | ||

| yeah did a warm up today so felt better but the amount of junk i have been eating slowed me down a little bit. got swooped though by a magpie that didn't swoop me yesterday. it just watched me yesterday but had a go today. didn't actually come any closer then 2 metres away which was nice. it must be the hair i think because i saw heaps but they didn't go for me, and the one that did didn't have a proper go. i'd be scared of my hair as well though, it curls even more when i run. | ||
