Orienteering race 35:51 [5] **** 5.52 km (6:30 / km)
shoes: Silva K80's

middle distance.
had a pretty slow start, but got flowing fairly well until 6 where i was too high and then wandered around mounds for a while. lost about 2 mins there. was the only real mistake, the rest was clean but not heaps fast, was trying to concentrate on the nav more. was cold and windy and rainy and generally unpleasant. came 9th which i was happy with
i'm just gonna take garmin dists and times for all these i think.

Running 1:00:58 [4] 14.45 km (4:13 / km)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline GTS 9

waking up this morning to everything looking orange was pretty cool.
however spending the day breathing in the dust was not so cool. and it was almost impossible to escape at school seeing as it somehow got into all the rooms too.
wasn't too keen to go running in the dust but it thinned out by the arvo so i went out for a slightly longer ( well long for this week) run. was gonna take it easy but was blown along by the wind for the first half and was going well. so cranked tempo on the way home, unfortunately with a headwind but oh well. felt like i was moving wayyy better then yesterday

Orienteering race (HV champs) 49:27 [5] *** 6.95 km (7:07 / km)
shoes: Dads Helly Hansons

Hunter Valley Champs out at Wallaroo, a new map for me seeing as i've never made a foot o event out at wallaroo before. got out there late ish and was bloody hot. was super cautious to the first 3 controls, didn't really feel into the map and was fairly thick. got them ok though. not sure about my route choice on the longer 9-10 leg, went out to the road where as i think straight might have been better. began to tire a bit after that but wasn't too bad. nav was generally good, often i would hit the control a little high or a little low but would only lose seconds there. however was reallyyy hesitant. most controls i would stop right near them to read the map where as if i just looked i would have seen it.
so no real mistakes. suffered in the heat a bit though. was pleased to take the win, though not by much. course dist was 5.9.
