Orienteering race 1:23:21 [5] *** 13.0 km (6:25 / km)

Mass start hagaby. Had the long split first and short split second. Was middle of the pack on the first loop but found myself on the back of a pretty gun group after a while. Was paying too much attention to others though and got suckered to the wrong split control and lost the pack coming to the first map change. Managed to catch up a bit on the second loop but wasn't navigating fast enough to keep up. So lost the lead pack again and then lost time on 2 controls. Was running by myself until Will Hawkins caught me at the 2nd map change. We were running together and then Ian and Brodie caught us. The rest of the race was pretty much a 4 way battle between us until the 3rd last control where I dropped off the back, unable to match the pace increase. Ended up 4th in the juniors and 11th in the seniors which was surprising. Pretty pleased, but still room for improvement technically and physically before Easter. Good weekend all up :)

NOL sprint. Bad preparation, was rushed and spent my warm up time in a toilet queue that I never got a chance to reach the front of. Made a few small errors that were really rookie and was only in the last few controls that I realized I wasn't even tired, so perhaps I should have pushed harder. Was well off the pace and a little disappointed really

NOL middle. Was determined for a better result after this morning. Cautious start but picked up and was coming 2nd for a period of controls until I stuffed up #11. Went right which was rocky and slow and didn't recognize my attackpoint so ended up past the control. Lost 70 secs. Next few legs and really the rest of the course were a bit slower as I tried to limit any more mistakes and get my head back into it. Ended up 5th, with olle beating me for 4th place in the finish chute. Happier with this result but would have been stoked with a time 70 secs quicker

park 3 at blackbutt. super muddy, was slipping even in talons. nearly axed myself so bad on one of the wooden bridges it was that slippery. really pushed hard on the hill legs as i thought that was where i could gain a time advantage perhaps. slowed down alot on the muddier single track out to the north as it was super sketchy and i didn't want to hurt my ankles. felt pretty stuffed in the last controls though. won by about 1:40, hopefully i can perform in the final now!

control collecting. felt good in the legs just jogging, so thats promising. travelling tomorrow evening straight after uni so not sure if i'll get to run tomorrow

sprint ints. legs really sore in a weird spot, and again felt pretty slow. however the times weren't terrible and whilst i got tired quickly i felt like i was running better towards the end. times were all 33 except for 2 which were 32. pushed my recoveries a little quicker today too.
Average: 32.9.
only a little slower then last time, so thats not too bad.

bit of a recovery run. trying to get back into the swing of things after last weeks deviation from my training program. felt really terrible running though which was disappointing. hopefully i can get my feeling bad running out of the way early in the week and feel as good as i have been recently by the weekend.
