Orienteering 1:03:50 [5] 8.4 km (7:36 / km)

Brown course at the SoSOL at Calder Wood. Bit of a last minute decision to do this, but very glad I did. Navigation felt a bit scrappy - largely due to the limitations of the map - but I managed to avoid any large scale mishaps. Went off hard until about 45 minutes when the legs started to die, which unfortunately coincided with the orange-standard loop around the E side. Pleased to be just over 5 min behind Oleg, though would have enjoyed being ahead of Will rather than just behind.

Lovely day for it, and some gorgeous stretches of bluebell-strewn wood. The area is much harder work than it looks, perhaps due to the steepness of the slopes, but it's an ideal candidate for a lidar remap.

Orienteering 42:21 [4] 6.3 km (6:43 / km)

Evening race at Drumpellier, which was in superb condition - marshes mainly dry, undergrowth still down, but the new leaves making it much trickier, especially when trying to find mini-markers. My legs were a bit jaded after the previous night at the Wheel, which is partly an excuse for getting schooled by Arnis, but I was also scrappy in the circle both early on and on the final loop. An enjoyable way to spend another warm sunny evening.

Orienteering warm up/down 15:00 [2]

Jog from Blairhill station to the visitor centre.

Orienteering 29:38 [5] 4.3 km (6:53 / km)

My contribution to World O Day care of FVO's event at the Falkirk Wheel. Much better than my last visit to the area when I gave up after sliding around on muddy banks for too long. Had pre-warning about the missing flag at 5 and the 'dodgy pit' (to quote Rosco) at 15, which I never actually found despite checking out a few candidates, and really enjoyed the course. Running pretty well but need to check the compass a lot more, especially leaving controls - you'd think I'd have learned from Sunday.

Running 35:00 [2]

Out and back to the Wheel from Falkirk High - out via the roads, and back along the shorter canal route kindly pointed out by Jamie.

Running 12:00 [4]

Short interval sesh along the canal - 5 x 2 min with 30 sec recovery. Legs were up to it, but feeling quite fatigued generally, so happy not to do more.
