Cycling 40:00 [3]

So that's four rear wheel punctures in three months. More pertinently, the second in a week, less than an hour after finishing fixing the previous one (it's been a busy week). OK, perhaps I could have avoided the pothole, full of water as it was, but I'm bloody sick of this. Why does anyone go cycling in winter anyway?? I think I'll be having a good long holiday from the bike...forking out for gym membership is looking increasingly inevitable.

So, was a bit over halfway round the Ruchill/Drumchapel loop when it happened. Stopped to try and fix it, but gave up when I realised that the back brake cable had also gone(!). It must have happened when I slammed on the anchors after feeling the wheel go - I felt it lose bite, but assumed at the time it was due to the tyre deflating. Managed to find Drumry station with some difficulty but just in time for the train.

On the plus side, my body felt a lot less broken than I'd expected after Saturday.

Running 1:35:00 [3]

Well that was fun. And probably immensely stupid, but then how many weekend days of bright sunshine are we likely to get in the next couple of months. From Kilpatrick up the new race route to the NW corner of The Slacks, then onto the old race route over Duncolm and down to the reservoir. Went left from the dam and round the new fence to the gate by the ex-reservoir. Walked down the hill from there (not included in the logged time).

Managed a steady plod on the uphill and flattish bits, but was pussyfooting severely on anything downhill. Happily there was a lot of bog to reduce impact on the legs. Felt fine until coming along toward the dam when things started to ache a bit. It'll probably stop me running for a few days (at least), but was worth it to be out on the hills for the first time in ages.

Running 20:00 [2]

Inside the park, on the grass, with a Petzl to prevent accidents (quite a few fallen bits of tree around). It's not like I've been counting, but I'm pretty sure that's the first time in over a year I've been for a run two days in a row. Which probably explains why it felt so bad...

Running 25:00 [2]

Charing X and Kelvingrove on tarmac. Slightly brisker than previous efforts. Could I soon reach the dizzying heights of Running Intensity 3?
