Cycling 55:00 [3]

Big day out to celebrate the last free day before beginning teaching as well as a major birthday. Very lucky with the weather which was glorious sunshine for the whole trip. Rode out to Queenzieburn via Kirkintilloch and Twechar, finishing with the (1km at average 10%) climb out of Queenzieburn.

Running 1:35:00 [2]

Trot up Meikle Bin and back using the track to the Birkenburn Reservoir dam. Was happy to find that the OS map was correct in indicating a route (albeit a muddy one) through the woods S of Meikle Bin. Utterly stupendous views from the top across Carron Valley and up to the southern Highland peaks.

Took it easy, walking the steeper climbs and pussyfooting the descents. Hip quite grumbly.

Cycling 55:00 [3]

Decided it was too nice a day to go straight home, so headed W along the foot of the Campsies to Strathblane and up the backroads to the Visitor Centre. Absolutely grovelling by the time I got to the top, but happily the cafe was waiting to revive me.

Cycling 40:00 [3]

Home from the Visitor Centre, fortified by a bacon roll and coffee. Really enjoyable day...so glad I took the day off.

Cycling 40:00 [3]

To the office, for the first time since March. Weather less horrible than expected, including a strong tailwind along Paisley Road West. Traffic OK after passing the school dropoff nightmare at Kelvingrove. Was taking it quite easy due to a heavy load including costly laptop.

Cycling 35:00 [3]

Return journey from work, after just avoiding being locked in ther building. Tailwind again(!) and remarkably light traffic. A nice day out compared with usual home working, but I doubt I'll be repeating it soon...
