Special New Years Day parkrun - event 3 in a triple parkrun for the dedicated, and LakeMac, the 'Butt, and newy,
Didn't get tempted by the triple event, but decided a couple of weeks ago that "newy on NewYear" would mark my return to parkruns, and continue the tradition of a special walk/explore/run with tinytoes on Jan 1.
Hoped to break 1 hour but didn't quite make it - but I can say that not many other people (if any) doing a parkrun this weekend will end up with blisters on their hands and cramps in the fingers - even managed a "sprint finish", but stopped dead 1m across the finish line. Don't think I will be up for another one tomorrow!
Finished about 740th out of 745 - won't count as an official PB because I still have the string of 6 consecutive PBs (in about half the time) from Oct-Nov 2014 when I was between recovery from radiation/chemo and surgery, I will still regard it as a PB to be worked on for post-op. I even considered registering as a new parkrunner (briefly) but decided that I wanted the full story in one place.
At today's pace I was passed by the fastest runner (Vlad Shatrov) at 900m into the course - he was going the other way though, so he only had 900m to run on 16:20 pace (1:20 slower than his PB) - I still had 4.1km in front of me.!
unfortunately I think the only way I won't have sticks in a photo like this is with the liberal use of photoshop, or if I can take take photos of my dreams (but that may have undesirable consequences)
