50th Anniversary Run!

1 mile around "The Block" (Ski Hut block) with TomO.
50 years ago I started "training," even though I was always a running kid.
12 months later I ran my first marathon (Paavo Nurmi, at age 16, 3:16:00)

Beers and burritos at Burrito Union with Tom afterwards. AND, Eli was pouring beer for the first time! (He hosts and serves food usually.)

Ran from home, through Hartley, to Arrowhead Rd, past Jarrow's, Congdon Blvd, Lakewalk to Brighton Beach, and on up shore just past the 1 mile mark of Gma's.
Took about 1:00 walk breaks each mile, until past 18 or so, then every 1/2 mile. It was hot (70's to 80 at end) and sunny. Julie and Laura (Hoops) crewed. Tried to stay on dirt or grass most of the way.
Goal was sub-5:00 but had no idea how it would go. 2:15:00 at the Half. So, 2:31 second half.
Just decided to give it a shot a week ago. 16 week avg = 8.75/week

An hour from mid-point of The Grand Portage trail. 1 mile on the trail (very gnarly and overgrown) and then 4 on the road to the end (Canada) and back to car +

No mushrooms, a few thimbleberries. Thunderstorm right after.
