| First XC race ive ever done (not including 24hrs, mtbo, enduro etc).
Was way fun. It was "short track" race. wasnt overly impressed with the track choice but hey... Because it was my first time i raced C grade, but this was still a fairly competitive group (the second biggest, D being the biggest). I came 8 th which i am fairly stoaked about. We did 5 laps of the course (yes, in 12 mins, so yea verry short track!). Great for sprinting fitness because you are always hammering. Probably i enjoy the races with similar lap dist to the scott more though. | ||

Rode up mt ainslie. Took 15:22 down mt ainslie and then to civic then over to csiro and up black mt on fire roads did half the circumcision track, then up to the top of black mountain then back down and did the other half of the circumsision track then down and around the little black mountain loop then to bruce ridge where i spent about 40 mins on single track stuff. then over to dickson, up mt ainslie saddle, round the back side, and home. started at 7 and finished at 10;10pm so it was pretty much all in the dark. Was good fun. Will do "three peaks" inc mt majura next time :D | ||

| Km is just a guesstimate.
Basically took a foot o map that extended from south mt ainslie stuff to north majura stuff, and whacked it on my mapboard. Kinda practiced planning a route ahead whilst riding and not passing turnoffs n stuff by mistake. Kinda hard cos singletracks on foot o maps are teeny tiny so hard to read on a mapboard. Basically went to the Pines via some single track and fire road i havent been on before (intentional long cuts). Then thru the pines on single track all the way to the very north. Then illegally crossed a paddock to get to the majura bitumin road up. Rode to the top. THen down the south side, half on fire road half on some walking track(shush!) then home again takiing some singletrack long cuts but not too many cos it was getting dark and i had no light. I managed to whack my hip on a solid tree at speed coming down majura. It almost threw me completly off my bike, and it hurt a fair bit :( oh well, just another addition to my current body art collection! | ||

L14 - Josh Roberts (19) - 1:47:48 - BLUE NIGHT Subtract 15 mins for transition time. Told josh he can take as long as he wants, as long as he gets two done, then he can go back till sleep till 9! L15 - Josh Roberts (19) - 1:39:35 - RED NIGHT Im guessing subtract about 15-20 mins break time for this lap time L16 - Luke Poland (17) - 2:50:14 - BLUE DAY Yay its daytime again. This lap took 2:50 tho not sure why? jokes its cos we both SLEPT for 90 mins. haha best 90 mins of the race lol. Anyway the first half of this lap was weally weally sore and i kept getting overtaken, then all of a sudden it was like i woke up mentally or something, but i was pwning and overtaking people. Lap time was approx 63 Mins. L17 - Luke Poland (17) - 50:42 - RED DAY Wow now i really was awake. This was a mid speed, halfway between my early saturday smashers, and my night shockers. Subtract 3 mins rest in between laps. L18 - Josh Roberts (19) - 1:04:28 - BLUE DAY I told old ye faithful josh to be there when i got in, and surly enough he was there. Not sure that he was feeling tops for this lap, but he went out and gave it his best shot which was all we needed. L19 - Luke Poland (17) - 53:16 - RED DAY Powered this one out. Tried not to think of petty aspects such as pain too much. Just mere glory. L20 - Luke Poland (17) - 54:57 - BLUE DAY Pushed this lap harder than i have ever pushed on XC ever before. I left at 11:02, on a 15.3km course, and had to be back before 12;00 in order for josh to get another lap in. At the 3km mark (1/5) i asked the time... 11:15. I almost shat myself, then latched behind a pro rider (team Bike Culture, dunno what size team tho) and stayed for 5 km of singletrack. i had 20 mins left with 5km to go. Anyway to cut a long story short i thrashed and thrashed and made it back with four mins to spare. L21 - Josh Roberts (19) - 54:41 - RED DAY I just made it back for him to get out on one last lap before 12, in the end we were the last riders with 21 laps, but our time of 23:56(at end of lap 20) would have landed us at top of 20 lap teams, in exact the same placing. Still 21 sounds better than 20. And i think josh enjoyed this last lap too! :D all in all, a good race! | ||

-"Teamo Supremo" - I know its a preloved name but it came to my head first... -Anyway we were pretty satisfied with this result, cos weve never done it before, and in a field of 51... well... wow! -Sorry to say it Josh, but that last lap you did made no difference in our placings, looks like it was merely for prides sake! -Could possibly have reduced some transition times if we had a support crew, becuase they were the only chances we had to talk stuff over and communicate! ******************************Heres my spiel****************** (L=Lap) L1 - Luke Poland (17) - 1:00:58 - RED DAY This lap was one of my mid speed ones... got a flat which took perhaps 10-15 mins to fix, plus i was stuck between noobs cos i didnt want to push myself if i got stuck at the front! L2 - Luke Poland (17) - 56:29 - BLUE DAY I dont remember this lap being particularly aggressive or anything, but i suppose i rode at a stable pace, which actually landed me with a fair lap time, considering i was being wary of the stuff still to come. L3 - Josh Roberts (19) - 47:24 - RED DAY L4 - Josh Roberts (19) - 55:50 - BLUE DAY L5 - Luke Poland (17) - 47:17 - RED DAY Not much to say bout this, cept i am happy with the look of the time... they all kinda blur into one, so i cant really remember which lap was which! L6 - Josh Roberts (19) - 1:01:37 - BLUE DAY Subtract 5 mins transition time to give lap time L7 - Luke Poland (17) - 48:51 - RED DAY mmm nice steady time... cant remember lap tho... L8 - Josh Roberts (19) - 1:12:51 - BLUE DAY I think this was the lap that Josh began to feel unwell on... hmmm L9 - Luke Poland (17) - 50:38 - RED NIGHT Well it was kinda twilight, half was light half was dark. Subtract 5 mins transition time to give lap time L10 - Josh Roberts (19) - 1:25:56 - BLUE NIGHT Subtract 5 mins transition time. This was the lap i forced Josh to go out on and he wasnt very well. Well actually he said he was fine to do it, but if we were a bigger team he should have been sleeping. He took it easy which is good tho..... yay double digits :D L11 - Luke Poland (17) - 1:01:45 - RED NIGHT Subtract five minutes transition time for lap time. Ooo now starting to get sore. Headed out with intention of doing either 3 or 4, so didnt push it. Number 4 solo rider (??) caught me 1km in and i stayed with him till the top of the mt then overtook him. He was setting an awesome pace, verrrry steady, but not slow! L12 - Luke Poland (17) - 1:21:11 - BLUE NIGHT Subtract 10 minutes recov/food break for lap time. Slow and steady... L13 - Luke Poland (17) - 1:42:17 - RED NIGHT Subtract 30 mins of break before starting and before finishing this lap(i stopped at the schools team tent). This lap hurt. A lot. At the top at the caravan Nick Wilson passed me as i was drinking. I was like...im gunna catch that little beeyatch, so i flogged it down the hill (prob stooopid idea in my fatigued state...) and caught him at the DH bridge. I was like hey is that nick? and hes like yea whos that?? Im like Luke here... and hes like oh hey dude... righty cya later!... This cut me cos he thought he'd easily lose me, so i tried to show him the truth. I was all G and still right behind him for 200m then i got a fucking flat in the rock garden. ANGRY WAA. anyway shit happens and i just walked it the last 500m to olle and co's tent were i changed it in the light (thanks for joshy bee's help (: ), got a quick massage, had a little cry, and lay in olles sbag/tent for 10mins. Finally i got up and left. This is why i took so long cos i didnt pass thru timing till like 20 mins later. ALL THE ABOVE LAPS LASTED TILL ABOUT 2.30 AM, AFTER THAT I WILL LOG IT UNDER SUNDAY. | ||
