Event: QBIII

Bush Orienteering (QBIII Day One) 35:22 [4] 4.1 km (8:38 / km)

Really enjoyed the map, the course, and the run. Felt like I navigated pretty well; so much so, that half way into the course I'm saying to myself, "Come on Karen, you haven't made that big error yet. Don't stuff it up now." So I started to get a bit cautious. Made some little errors, but very happy overall. One of my best runs for a while. Pretty flat, good visibility and I didn't see anyone on my course - all the conditions I like!!

Running 24:00 [4]

If I'm not working, I really feel like it's a waste if I don't do at least a short run. Heaps of things to do today for school (report time) and for the weekend, so just did a short loop from home. Nice running conditions. Enjoyed it.

Running 30:00 [3]

Ran from King Edward Pk to Nobby's while kids were doing training session. Didn't have a watch on, but remember doing this run before, and I think it was about half hour. Felt like I was running on the spot at times along the coast with such a strong headwind. Very cold and windy, so pleased to have just got out there.

Gym 35:00 [3]

Went with lil Nic to do a Schwinn cycle class but it was full. Looks like everyone is trying to get out of the rain. Thought that was a sign that I was to just have a rest day, but Nicki was keen to do something. We did 20 mins on a recumbant bike (lay back bike), and I really liked it. Felt hard to start with, but then I tried doing 30 secs with tough resistance, 30 secs comfortable. I'll do that again.
Believe it or not we did the 15 min Abs class again. I hope noone says anything funny tomorrow, because I think laughing will be a struggle!

Running 10:00 [3]

Ran on the treadmill waiting for the Abs class. Was only running steady - 2km. Don't like treadmills much.

Cycling 30:00 [4]

Schwinn class at gym with lil Nic. Hard work. I'm just pleased I actually made the effort to do something. Pretty miserable weather here in Maitland today, so it would have been quite easy to settle in at home in my flannies with some hot chocolate after work.

Gym 15:00 [3]

Hung around the gym after the cycle class to do an "Absolution" class. I thought 'How hard can 15 minutes of stomach work be?' Yeh well I'm glad it wasn't any longer. Not sure if I'll get lil Nic back to this class. After 10 minutes I saw her glance at the clock and then mouth to me 'Only 5 more minutes!!' Really though, I thought she needed a bit of tummy tightening!! Yeh right!!

Running 39:47 [4]

Ran to the gym. Left home a bit late so tried to push it a bit. Made it with 5 mins to set up my weights for the 'Body Blitz' class. Really enjoyed the run. Pretty cool day here today, but great running conditions once I pushed myself out the door. I so much prefer to actually run TO somewhere, rather than just a loop from home and back home.

Gym 55:00 [3]

"Body Blitz' class. Didn't raise the heart rate at all but was a solid session of weights with squats, lunges, and arm work. This is the second one of these classes I've done this month. Liked it. Tell you what, I can't wait for someone to just randomly say to me: "Gee Karen, Have you been working out?" Feel liike I have bulging biceps tonight !!!
