Running race 23:47 [4] 5.0 km (4:45 / km)

This was my first cross country run for a lot of years. We used to do these every Saturday when we lived in Albury and then first moved to Maitland, and do a lot of fun runs as well. I was pretty nervous because it was a graded run, but having not been placed in a grade yet I had to start from scratch. I didn't like not having anyone around me, and really was unsure of my pace, and of how fast - or slow - my running pace actually is these days. Years ago I used to always do the long course, and aim for 4 min km. Then that dropped to 4 and a half min km. Now I'm doing the medium course and looking to beat 5 min km. The ageing process sucks. Anyway, it was hard work, but I know by doing more of these I'd improve. My second half was slower than the first, which to me indicates my lack of practice at running this pace for any distance.

Cycling 30:00 [4]

Very sore ankle today, so did a Schwinn cycle class at gym instead of a run. Started off a bit slow but certainly put in by the end. OK I was referred to as "Thunder Thighs" during conversation yesterday. Mmmm, I know Russ was joking, but think I'll pay careful attention to the amount of cycle classes I do!!! lol

Gym 15:00 [3]

Dreaded abs class with lil Nic. 15 minutes of pain, but worthwhhile pain I'm sure !!

Running 58:53 [3]

Ran around Redhead using an old Streeto map. Was really good fun. We headed up the hills first which was perhaps a mistake with no warmup, but I was glad to have them over and done with by the end of the run. One of the most enjoyable longer runs I've done for ages. It's so nice to run somewhere different and Russ was pretty good company ;-) We took turns to navigate and went to all controls. Fantastic weather.
