| ice-skating on friday was funnn . still no training. don't want to draw out recovery. foot still clicks when i walk sometimes :S probs not a great sign. grant and others have suggested swimming or bike riding. that would be cool i guess, but i never find bike riding to be nearly as much work as running, and the closest pool to my house closed to be refurbished. wish i could driveee | ||

| wooohooo!! i went running!!! a whole 15 mins. 5 mins, then some stretching and trying to decide if i should keep going, then 10 mins more. Generally felt slow and tired and bleurgh but foot was pretty good! did get a bit ouchy during and afterwards for a bit but not that bad. i guess when i go back to the physio or to the sports doctor person i can see what they think coz the fact that it hurt more is probly still not good. don't think i should try again til i do see someone i think. | ||

| don't even know anymore what i'm doing with my foot. shouldn't run i guess but it barely hurts at all doing normal stuff now so it's so annoying. ran around for about 30 seconds with a friend today and though it didn't make it that bad it definitely made it a tiny bit more sore so i guess going for a proper run would make it hurt a lot more. i'm so tempted :( mum's gonna call to get an appt with a sports doctor now i think so we can get an xray or something to see if it's a stress fracture but i doubt it is if it's starting to seem better. won't be able to get in there for at least a week probly so she says i should go back to the physio this wk as well. sigh. does the ultrasound thing thats meant to make it heal a bit faster reeeally do that much to bother with? | ||

| back in canberra after about the longest 24 hours of my life. well maybe not quite but close. let's just say everything about school sport orienteering trips is a million times better than xcountry ones, and i was only there for 1/3 of it. probly helps that the people are way friendlier and more including! | ||

| physio says we need to start thinking about the possibility of having a tiny stress fracture, as it should have started feeling a bit better by now if it is a ligament problem. also said that if orienteering is my main sport i should not run nationals if it hurts, though agreed when i asked if i could start and drop out if necessary.
dad didn't go but she called him to tell him what she'd told me, and he decided to take it into his own hands and call the coach of the xcountry team and tell him i'm not going to be running. isn't it my decision? so. i'm not doing nationals. after about 4 months of the hardest training i have ever and probably will ever do, i'm not even going to get to try. i bet it's a tiny injury anyway and the physio doesn't even realise that it doesn't hurt that much i wouldn't have ever even gone to one if it hadn't been for nationals being this wk. | ||

| sore throat much better today headachiness mostly disappeared. foot doesn't seem to be any better despite not running. planning on going for about 30 mins fairly easy tomorrow? i'll see how it goes i guess. i'm going to try and convince my parents not to make me go back to that physio tho she said to go tomorrow morning.. i don't want to. | ||

| no school for me today - it's the athletics carnival and mum said i should stay home rather than walk around for most of the day. woke up at about 2 am with my foot really hurting where the strapping was pulling up my foot on the opposite to the arch side, when it was meant to be pulling up underneath the arch. tried to ignore it but sooo painful! ended up turning on the light and ripping and cutting it mostly off just so i could sleep. woke up with a headache, massive sore throat and foot hurting way more! limping around trying to figure it out. oh yeah and ultra clicking noise is back. I'm in the depths of despair here!!! and i think i've forgotten how to run. | ||

| went to a physio this morning was quite pointless. told me that at this stage we'll assume it's a ligament problem and to rest (no running yet :( )and ice it (as i'd already figured!!) and strapped it for me. oh and did an ultrasound thing that makes blood circulate better or something so it heals faster. meanwhile i've got a sore throat and headache. | ||

| feel like i haven't run for aaages. look so inviting outside. foot still hurts a tiny bit just walking and i reeally don't want to make it worse. hoping hoping hoping it's not a stress fracture!!! hopefully seeing a physio tomorrow. mum's annoyed coz she said on thursday night that she'd take me to one on friday, but at that point it wasn't clicking, i couldn't really tell where exactly it was hurting, and it hadn't really been there for that long, so I didn't want to. grr | ||

so annoyed and confused and worried and gakdghahjljoiu foot/ankle thing hurt when i walked on it aafter yesterdays run, so i didnt' run today, and have decided not to run til monday at least. i need it better for next saturday!!!! seems to now hurt if i've been sitting still and i start walking, but after walking for a few metres it gets pretty normal again. weirdddd . thinking maybe i should try some RICE, but we're out of frozen peas :P | ||

| Really not sure what intensity this was. Thought I was trying pretty hard but could sprint at the end, plus I didn't feel that stuffed after.
I've decided i'm really bad at running as hard as I can - I never know how fast to go and worry that if I go too fast I'll get tired, or if I am feeling tired then I start going slower. in races should you push yourself really hard to go faster than you are? gah i dunno :S i guess some competition woulda helped ... | ||

| don't know time or distance. was blue lightning training on sprint maps - canberra uni and lake G. decided to go really slow and see what happens. had some slightly sore muscles mainly in right leg, but left foot/ankle thingy was fine. wore my snazzy blinding white new runners that r exactly the same as my old ones but new obviously. felt fine, weren't rubbing anywhere that i noticed. 3km tomorrow think i'll take that easy too. really don't wanna go to geelong anymore :( maryborough will be about a million trillion times funner. | ||

| ok so our school's weird and does half the athletics events in lunchtimes like 2 weeks before the actual carnival. soo the 1500m was on today and there were like 20 girls in the whole school doing it, so naturally they ran them all together. it's really stupid coz there's ppl lookin at u and stuff thinking ur weird to do it during lunch, aand u have to go to class pretty well straight after, aand we don't even have working showers! it's not cool, and is why i didn't try my hardest. anywayz came 1st but it wasn't that hard to and i'm pretty sure i coulda done a better time. foot/ankle was finee!!! i'm very relieved. | ||

| Pretty good though not that fast. After having a whole lot of shocking runs in the last few months it's good to have some decent ones! Still, a couple of minor wobbles, including when I got to the right area on the second control and found a boulder but there was no control. I kept looking til I found it a bit further up the hill, but afterwards John Harding, who found it at about the same time as me, said that it had been put on the rocky ground not the boulder, and that i'd been looking at the right one originally - hopefully he was right coz that would mean that I actually went to the right spot! Unfortunately my foot/ankle started hurting again which is a bit of a worry, with cc nationals in 2 wks... Not sure if it really counts as being injured but oh well. | ||

felt really sluggish for the first halfish of all this, hehe kept saying i wanted to walk. got better though. stops in between getting there and warm up, warm up and starting, and after the 30 mins for a couple of mins. | ||

| It was really hard to make myself go out today esp as it was grey skied and rain was forecast. stupid weatherppl should stop being so optimistic - it never did. anyway the first half was pretty average and i was wondering how i was gonna keep going for an hour, but then it started feeling fine, and i didn't really feel like i was getting any more tired through the rest of it. it was funnn!!! ran along tracks in the mt ainslie bush reserve for 25 mins, but it was getting dark and decided to turn around then so i could keep going in the streets with streetlights after i'd got back to where i started. buttt on the way back i took a wrong turn and ended up going up a hill for a fair way thinking another track would branch off it .. well it didn't so i turned around and went back down! then when i got home i kept running for a few mins to make up the hour.
My sister ate the leftover pizza i'd been looking forward to having after running though! :( | ||

| ok so there was the most beautifulest big blue sky ever this morning, and it wasn't really windy either, so i pretty well dragged my brother out of the house to come on a completely pointless but fun bike ride with me. The idea was that i could have a funn bike ride down at the lake as well as fitting in a run. it was really nice but my brother tailgates!!! he crashed into me twice, even though i gradually slowed down rather than braking suddenly :@ i tried to teach him the 3 second rule like how ur meant to when u drive a car that i learnt in road ready, but he just got annoyed :P | ||

| Ok so we rode to the place where i did a cross country race a few weeks ago, and i tried to do it just as hard as i did then, but it was hard to remember exactly where the course had gone in some bits! still i think i got it mostly right, only cutting off a bit where there was a fallen tree, which meant i didnt have to go down into a dip :D. ended up taking almost a minute off the previous time :S actually it felt like i was going really slowly in lots of it :( i've definitely decided that i don't like 4km, it's just too short for me to go at my nice sluggish pace and do well.
anyway, meanwhile my brother had given up running behind me after about 200 metres and gone and sat with our bikes, and then he went to buy us hot chips from the cafe while i was recovering. think that defeated the purpose of training but oh well. | ||

| interesting excercise organised by coach grant. in the vicinity of each of the correct control sites there were two extra controls, well plastic cones actually, and you had to make sure you were at the right one before checking if there was a smiley face underneath it or not, as there were no numbers on them or anything. it was funn. pretty much walked the whole way with ben but tried to notice everything on the map. got one frowny face though when we were at the wrong termite mound :$ | ||

| don't actually know how long it took they didn't tell me. apparently someone else had downloaded with my ecard!! which doesn't even work coz it's mine!!! oh well. running was good, navigation quite sketchy in a few places :( must have lost me quite a bit of time. sorta just ran to where i thought the control would be instead of slowing down to check my map, and therefore running like 100 m to the right and having to go back to the left again.
lately i haven't been trusting my compass bearings at all... which is baddd. now i'm a bit fitter (or maybe i'm just trying to walk less on courses) i try to take a bearing and then look down to check if i'm still on it, but i'll have to stop and walk to stop the needle swinging coz i've got one of the cheaper thumb compasses. it's so hard to make myself stop and check it when i can just keep running... in the wrong direction. so i tend to just look for things and assume they're what i'm looking for when in actual fact they're the same kind of feature but in the wrong direction. i'm probly just blaming the compass though, when i'm actually just really bad at taking bearings. | ||

very very yucky looking weather outside, which is a great excuse, but I don't think I would have gone running anywayz. is that badd? oh welll... have to decide whether to go to orienteering or do a 5km race tomorrow. should do orienteering coz it's wayy cooler than running (hehe ellyyyy) but then again should do race coz i've been told i should esp as only like 3 weeks left til nationals, so it would be the last chance or something :S. buttt the race isn't proper xcountry it's along bike paths etc. and very very flat though 1km more than i'll have to do in geelong. gah can't decide. | ||
