Orienteering race (Belanglo) 54:00 [3] 5.2 km (10:23 / km) +115m 9:21 / km
I didn't discover a corpse! How surprising... :P
Pretty good run actually - I was expecting to find it a lot harder. One little mistake where I took a rough bearing in from a track looking for the termite mound my control was on, saw a termite mound a bit to the left and ran to it and punched, before finally realising I was on the wrong termite mound and going to the right one.
Generally went quite carefully and didn't go all that fast coz I thought I'd be too tired after all the training at camp. Realised right near the end of the course that it was almost finished and I wasn't actually very tired. Think I should have run much harder on the tracks when I knew exactly where I was and where I was going. Need to work on this generally in orienteering - think I don't run nearly as hard as I should a lot of the time.
C • wish i could go as fast as ... 2

Saturday Jul 12

Orienteering intervals (relays- bloomfield park) 30:00 [4] 5.7 km (5:16 / km)
1 x 1.51 km 1 x 1.34 km
1 x 1.24 km 1 x 1.6 km
In pairs - I was with Richard again. There were 4 loops and each person in each pair had to do all of them but everyone had a different order to do them in. Two were only around buildings and stuff and the other two had some bush legs as well. It was really fun and we came 4th! :D
Running warm up/down (the dreaded ladders!) 20:00 [3]
warm up and cool down jogs plus ladder drills.
I was even worse at them this time! :'(

Friday Jul 11

Orienteering race (camp champs at oaky creek) 1:28:00 [4] 7.6 km (11:35 / km)
nice map. very long. was going to do the shorter red but ended up doing this one...
Some dodge navigation made it take even longer than it should have - one bad stuff up that must have wasted quite a bit of time, plus a few other stupid mistakes. Still, I finished the course and was the only girl to do it so at least i can pretend i won :P
Cycling intervals (rob's experiment) 2:30 [5]
owwwww it hurt!!! 5 x 30 seconds with breaks in between. oh and they'd done somehting to the bike to make it really intense pedalling though i don't actually know what. apparantly i have good riding posture ^o)

Thursday Jul 10

Orienteering (relocation) 15:00 [3]
with kaz, took turns - he'd go to a control on his map then i'd work out where we were then i'd go to a control on my map and so forth.
Orienteering intervals (map memory) 15:00 [5]
10 seconds to look at map then run to the control and back. it was pretty much flat out the whole time except for when i couldn't get out of the erosion gully
Orienteering (relocation) 15:00 [3]
second half of the first excerise. it was so hard to keep up with kaz even though we walked a few bits up hills and stuff - i guess i was already tired.
Orienteering 30:00 [4]
3 x 1kish loops . a veryy annoying watercourse that went through the middle of all the courses and u had to cross it and get covered in mud and scratched by blackberries :( it was very cold and smelly mud too. elly is such a gun she did wayy better than me which is sad considering the fact that i've been orienteering for so much longer than her :(

Wednesday Jul 9

Orienteering (Relocation) 20:00 [3]
Well actually I didn't have to do any relocating: We were put in pairs and one person was the leader/coach and the other was the .... i dunno but the one who had to relocate. The leader had to take the other to a spot nearish each control and then the other got to get out their map and work out where they were and find the control. I was leading Richard which was a bit of a joke coz I'm not really any better than him but oh well. It was easy peasy for him even though I tried to make it a bit harder (Y)
Orienteering (Map memory) 30:00 [3]
Also with Richard.
Took turns doing a control each, looking at the leg and simplifying it so we remebered it then giving the map to the other person and finding the control. We both had no trouble with any of it... just got a bit distracted rolling around these massive tyres we found in a gully and then throwing a metal bin lid down a hill and seeing how long it could roll for. Made me feel like Noah but it was funn
Orienteering (Relays) 30:00 [3]
well it would have been intensity 4 at least except that i couldn't find a control that was meant to be on a cliff and so walked for a bit while i worked it out. (turned out everyone thought it was on the wrong bit of rock anywayz which made me feel better :D)
Did two 1kish loops and went to get a control after.

Tuesday Jul 8

Orienteering (Score course) 43:00 [3]
Score course around Lake Canabolas, where we were staying. Got all but two controls, not realising I'd be able to get so much of it done I skipped them on the way around, then near the end wished I'd got them coz I could have fitted it into the 45 mins! Haha oh well it was pretty fun but freeezing and a bit muddy and scratchy in places.
Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]
Running, stretching, ladders, handweights.
I'm completely unco at the ladder things!!!

Monday Jul 7

Event: NSW Junior Squad Training Camp

Note
(rest day)
yayyyyyyyy camp tomorrow!!!!!!!
oh yeah and i bought a watch! It's supremely high-tech - it shows the time AND date AND day of the week AND has a stop watch AND an alarm clock AND... oh and a light. yep. all for just under $10 at big w :D. Dad says it'll be interesting to see how long it works for. hehe oh well it'll hopefully last me at least a month.
