Running 1:23:40 [5] 13.1 mi (6:23 / mi)
Derby half marathon. Felt tired all week and fell asleep on Saturday afternoon which is unheard of for me. Woke up on Sunday still tired but hoped the adrenaline would get me going. Unfortunately not - realised I still wasn't right after the first mile - heavy legs, unsettled stomach, oh dear only 12 miles to go. Thought about dropping out but decided it was a good opportunity to try and keep up a tempo pace while not feeling good. Although disappointing to feel like this, glad to have got through feeling like that without dropping to a horrendously slow pace - but I ran slower than the Sheffield half and this one was flat!
Annoying because I was kind of aiming for this race, hope it was just a bad day rather than unfitness. Now I need to find another half marathon soon. Not sure which one though as there don't seem to be many over summer. Think I'd prefer one with undulations rather than flat - found the monotony tough especially when feeling bad. Maybe flat would be ok if I felt great.
