Running 47:37 [2] 5.3 mi (8:59 / mi)

Jogging in the rain round Dale Dyke reservoir from Low Bradfield with Neil.

Saturday Apr 15, 2017 #

Running 51:00 [3] 7.0 mi (7:17 / mi)

Hillsborough park run to get legs going a bit quicker before next week. Ate a lucozade orange gel 10 mins before, seemed to digest easily and felt unusually good for a Saturday morning - usually find park runs a slog. steady effort rather than all out, pleased to get faster as it went on. 18.31 - miles 6.02, 6.01, 5.51. Plus 2 miles before and 1.9 after.
Think I will be ok to use the gels they hand out at the marathon now which is good as only need carry 1.

Running 1:00:20 [1] 7.1 mi (8:30 / mi)

Easy run in the rain at Ladybower on path below Win Hill whilst Neil did hills. Back to feeling slow today but better by the end.

Note

Bought some lucozade 'elite fuel' gels (as these are provided at the marathon and it would be extremely useful if I am able to eat them). Had one 30 mins before run today and it was fine. But probably too long before run, had meant to take it 10 mins before but underestimated how long I'd spend faffing pre-run. Will try again on Saturday.
7 AM

Running 25:00 [1] 3.0 mi (8:20 / mi)

Morning jog - finally feeling a little better.
6 PM

Running 1:17:40 [3] 10.6 mi (7:20 / mi)

Finally a good run - first time in months it's felt easy to run at a decent pace, at least since national xc.
Rivelin and up Wyming, some mp tempo on path behind sportsman. Ignored the phantoms trying to tell me my knees and achilles were niggling.

6 PM

Running 43:27 [2] 6.0 mi (7:15 / mi)

Run at Ladybower while Neil did DP fell run. Planned some tempo/mp running, but I was freezing, it was windy and I generally wasn't feeling it so just ran steady.

Technically in 'taper' mode now and despite cutting down on running have developed lots of new and unexplained niggles - sore right knee, tight hamstrings, tight calves - aargh. A quick google suggests these are 'pre marathon phantom injuries' i.e. all in the mind! hmmm

Tuesday Apr 11, 2017 #

Running 30:00 [2] 3.3 mi (9:05 / mi)

Morning jog as busy after work.

Monday Apr 10, 2017 #

Running 12:00 [2] 1.5 mi (8:00 / mi)

Jog to gym and back. Got freezing standing outside gym after circuits getting marathon day tips from Sammy, so just straight home after.
