Other (Stair Master) 5:00 [3]

Running 10:00 [3] 0.83 mi (12:00 / mi)
shoes: New Balanced 767

Note

Today at physical therapy as soon as I got on the bike I got yelled at because two physical therapists said that my hamstrings are too tight and that I haven't been doing my daily stretches, which I have. I guess I have been doing them wrong so he showed me a new one to do today.

After the bike he had me do all of my stretches and then he stretched me, that part really hurt. Then I went on the stair master for 5 minutes and I ran on the treadmill for 10 minutes. While I was running he dictated me on my form. "Heal toe, heal toe, fully extend your leg, heal toe."

Running (Physical Therapy) 10:00 [3] 0.83 mi (12:03 / mi)
shoes: New Balanced 767

Note

At Physical Therapy today he had me ride the stationary bike, and then do calf raises. Then he had me do this weird thing with a wheely chair where you sit down and pull yourself with your heals. I went around the room twice doing this. After that I walked sideways across the room twice with large elastic band around my ankles. All I think that did was pull the hair out of my legs. Then he had me run on the treadmill for 10 minutes, PAIN FREE, Woo! But him and another therapist said I have terrible form, so we scheduled another month of PT to improve my form so I dont get injured again.

Note
(sick)

Yesterday I woke up with a pretty bad head ache and a sore throat. Today it was better and mostly gone, but I skipped track practice to make sure that it didn't come back.

Biking 30:00 [3] 8.8 mi (3:25 / mi)

At practice today I decided to do the warm up, but very slow and shortened a little. By the end of it my leg started to hurt, so I dont think I will continue doing it. After I stretched I went and rode the stationary bike again. Then I stretched and went home.

Swimming 30:00 [3]

Instead of going to my regular practice I went to Clark University in Worcester MA. I went here to get some private coaching from their swim coach. We focused on breaststroke the entire time since thats my main stroke. He said that my form was really good except for my streamline/glide. So we worked on that which felt really different. We will see how effective it is at my meet on saturday.

Physical Therapy

Note

Today at physical therapy I rode the bike and did calf raises. Then he had me jog on the treadmill for 8 minutes. It didn't really hurt, it just caused some irritation. While I was running he was looking at my form and said I have an unbalance in muscle. So he gave me a exercise to even it out. He also said that this was cause by running on the same side of the road too much and that the muscle imbalance was a cause of my injury.

Biking 32:56 [3] 11.0 mi (3:00 / mi)

Today at track I watched everyone do a warm up. Then I stretched with them, did core and then rode the bike for a while. Then I stretched some more and while I waited for my ride I played some basketball.

Biking 25:00 [3] 6.0 mi (4:10 / mi)

Strength 40:00 [3]

Note

Today at practice I sat around while everyone warmed up. Then I did static stretching while every one else did dynamic stretching. Then we did 25 pushups and core(leg lifts and planks).

Then I went to the weight room by my self and rode the stationary bike while everyone ran around the hallways, since it was too cold to run outside. After about 25 minutes they came down stairs to work out so I lifted weights with them. When the sprinters took over the weight room the distance went up stairs and stretched.

Then I went to physical therapy.

Biking 8:00 [3]

Today I rode the bike, did calf raises on a slanted machine, and did that balance machine again. But instead of holding the bars next too me he had me do it with no hands.

Then he stretched my leg and had me ice it.

My achilles is getting better but I still cant run.

All This exercise help me clear my mind from my finals today and get me ready for tomorrows finals.

Physical Therapy

Today I rode the bike, did leg extensions, calf raises on a slanted machine, and this weird machine that worked you ankle muscles. you would like turn you ankle and a dot on the screen would move with it. Then you had to reach two lines. It was easy going forwards and backwards, but going right was kinda hard and going left was really hard, I couldn't even make it half way.

Then he gave me this exercise where you lay down and lift you leg, one at a time, and put it down with your ankle turned in.

Then he stretched my leg and had me Ice it.

Biking 30:03 [3]

Finally got some exercise in. Today at practice my coach let me ride the stationary bike like I have been asking to do since my injury.

Swimming 1:30:00 [3]

Thursday Jan 8, 2009 #

Note

Today I went to practice and somewhat participated. Instead of sitting around the whole time I stretched with the team and then sat around the rest of the time with ice on my leg.

Biking 10:00 [3] 2.8 km (3:34 / km)

I had Physical Therapy today and he started me off with riding a stationary bike. Then she stretched my leg and poked at it a bit to make sure I have achilles tendonitis (and I do). So he then gave me a deep tissue massage using ultra sound. You can feel him doing it, besides putting this gel on your leg, but it feels good afterwards.

Monday Jan 5, 2009 #

Note

Today I went to physical therapy. They did exactly what my friend said they would do, make you do stuff that hurt and kept making you do it. So in the end my physical therapist said I was too tight in the hamstring and calf in both legs, and it was an injury waiting to happen, it just happened that my right leg gave away first.

So I mostly blame this on my coaches, since they have had us doing dynamic stretching which doesn't stretch me at all. If I was doing static stretching this probably wouldn't have happened. So he gave me three stretches to do that would help, and after I get loose he would give me exercises to do.

I will be going to physical therapy twice a week for the rest of the month, and we will see what happens after that.

Note
(injured)

Yesterday I went to the doctor, and he says that I have achilles tendonitis. So he recommended me to a physical therapist, who I made an appointment to see on monday. But last night I went to my friends house and sat in a hot tub for a bit and now my leg feels better, as in it doesn't hurt to walk. So I am going to see the physical therapist and give it at least another week to heal before I start running again.

Note
(injured)

The past two days I have been constantly icing my leg, 20 minutes on 30 minutes off. Even last night I iced my leg when I went over my friends house. But still my achilles hurts when I walk.

So my mom said that I will probably have to take the rest of the season off, so I guess I will. I am planning to see a doctor some time soon but we haven't scheduled an appointment yet.
