orienteering race (Burnham Beeches) 1:22:51 [4] 9.5 km (8:43 / km) +190m 7:56 / km
I never intended to go full blast on this and, instead, planned to use it as a training run and to run in a new pair of shoes (Inov-8 X-Talons).
#1 - 20s lost before I remembered that it was 1 1:15000 map and I needed to run a lot further.
#8 - 30s lost concentration on crossing the road and took a little while to get it back. Luckily this control was fairly easy, otherwise I might have been a long time.
#10 - 2 minutes on the long leg. Should have taken a rough bearing and charged to the fence instead of wandering around the forest for a while.
#11 - 30s on hesitant running
#12 - 2 minutes on being confused by the film set
#13 - 20s dropping into the control further down the hill
#16 - 2 minutes, and no idea why
#17-20 - 4 minutes, absolutely nothing left in the body and slowed.
I did have one fastest split on my course - the run in. A rather good, for me, 16s. The fastest on any course was 14s. Tim, and his long legs, managed 15s.
Overall a good run and faster than intended or expected. The new shoes were good - much better than the old ones. Bring on some relays next week! :)
