Stretching 45:00 [2]
(injured)
still a bit sore but getting better, sort of.

One more week here, then back to Canberra for a bit. Exhaustion has well and truly set in. I nearly fell asleep during the stretching on my back.

Thursday Jun 19

Running 34:00 [3] 4.74 mi (7:09 / mi)
slept:5.0 (injured) shoes: dhaapatung2 (HVN)
Eventful day or two.

Went to another community this morning. Someone had hydroponic plants in VB bottles. very appropriate for a dry community. I wish I worked there - they have a nice curvy generally W-E road which isn't paved!

I saw a big snake on the run today. Smelt it before I saw it. Very, very dead. My first guess is a woma python (and feet, before you point out that the map on that site doesn't include here in the range of this snake, the map's wrong - most of their maps are wrong). The second guess is this (although said not to be here but copiously attested, unfortunately. This article is great for its tiger snake breeding advice: stick two tiger snakes together. Other useful advice: get advice if you don't know how to force-feed snakes. I couldn't find the head (things were a bit unidentifyable at the squashed end).

Running on bitumen for a month without cross-training has finally caused more soreness than general stiffness, in the form of what I guess is IT band inflammation, but who knows really. 'sore left leg' will do. My knee was sort of sore yesterday but I ignored it. This time my whole upper leg got very unhappy about 17 mins in. Hope it doesn't last too long. Shins are starting to get a little sore too. Maybe time for more airstrip running.

Yoga/Strength 15:00 [2]
Fascinating, I think part of this feeling too crappy to exercise is psychosomatic. Might also be that 2-4 is about 35C in my house...

Tuesday Jun 17

Running intervals 39:20 [3] 5 km (7:52 / km)
shoes: dhaapatung2 (HVN)
Warmup, 10x who knows (130m maybe?), and warmdown. First split was 45 and they got faster as I warmed up, last three were 40 and previous 3 to that were 39. Did 10 total (pleasing since last time on this sort of distance at Milingimbi I could only go 6) and darkness and sorish knee stopped me rather than tiredness.
Yoga/Strength 30:00 [1]
Good stretch and strength stuff during and after.
Note
The corned beef pasta was a huge disappointment.

Monday Jun 16

Running 11:00 [3] 1.69 km (6:31 / km)
shoes: dhaapatung2 (HVN)
Had to turn around soon after starting because of stomach cramps and dizziness. Feeling better now but it's too late to go now.

The end of fieldwork is usually a fizz for exercise, and I really hope it isn't the case this time. Either I get properly sick, or my accommodation changes, or there's too much humbug, or all of the above.

I'm actually looking forward to my corned beef and tinned pasta sauce pasta dinner. That's really sad. But while the McEurope burger looked edible, the McAmerica still makes me feel queasy so I haven't quite hit the bottom of the food possibilities yet.
Yoga/Strength warm up/down 5:00 [1]
