Went for a nice yomp around the Fairfield horseshoe with Vic, a route I haven't actually done before (at least, not the right way round), and Vic has only done once or twice. Lots of good chat, and a combination of these and overconfidence meant that we went completely the wrong way off Fairfield, over Cofa Pike and St Sunday Crag and down into Patterdale without realising we were going wrong until we suddenly appeared at the front of the Patterdale hotel. The car was in Rydal, we had £5 and one headtorch between us and it was about an hour and a half until sunset.
The £5 got spent on cake, and we caned it to Brother's Water, up and over Scandale Pass and got back to the car just as the sun was setting. Pretty bloody funny really, and excellent OCT training. Just a shame neither of us took any water because we were "only going to be out for a couple of hours" - drank from a few streams but was pretty dehydrated by the time we got back!
Fun day out all in all
