Black Combe race, first time since 2016. Had forgotten how much I like this race. Bit of clag on the first summit but nothing major, quite heavy going underfoot round the top because of how it has been the last week. Was going better than a lot of people around me on the second climb and had Kerry and Ali Richards in sight. Took the straight line off the summit (although i did hesitate a little bit because everyone else was going off to the path, so I stopped to double check my bearing) - worth it, caught the group who had been in front of me and dropped the people who i'd been with at the summit (including Paul Simpson). Legged the descent, overtaking 5-6 people and getting within 30 seconds of Kerry but not quite managing to catch her. Pie after. Lovely stuff

Howgills race recce. Stomach felt a bit better this morning, so ate some toast pre-run. Wasn't so good during the run though - nearly projectiled the malt loaf I ate back onto Yarlside, so just absolutely sucked on the climbs all day. Bailed on the last little bit and just ran back over Winder from Arant Haw with Lesley. At least managed to see most of the route, and its a beast.
