Saturday Jan 25 #

Biking 32:42 [4] 4.5 mi (7:16 / mi) +252m 6:11 / mi
ahr:148 max:168

Got up a bit late, so had to peg it (pegal it?) up Whinlatter to get to Parkrun on time

Running (Whinlatter Parkrun) 26:47 [4] 5.0 km (5:21 / km) +311m 4:05 / km
ahr:140 max:176

Whinlatter Parkrun. Only got there a couple of minutes before the briefing so didn't have time to get changed properly, just pull my long tights off and take my baselayer off, so had to run in my bike shorts, which wasn't the most comfortable thing. Legs a bit tired (for obvious uphill cycling reasons), faster than last time I did Whinlatter though.

Had a cuppa and a teacake and a nice catchup with Kerry and Lou in the cafe after.

Biking 1:46:20 [3] 19.81 mi (5:22 / mi) +396m 5:03 / mi
ahr:128 max:165

Down Whinlatter to Lorton, round to Buttermere, crawled (with lots of zigzagging) up Newlands pass, wussed down it with the brakes on (was quite wet and greasy), then home via Portinscale. According to garmin I was mostly in "zone 2", certainly felt a lot harder than that! Tired legs

Note

I have no idea how big Carlisle pool is, so these numbers might be all wrong. It's advertised as being a 33m pool, but it's clearly been split in two at some point, and it felt quite short, so I have one set of numbers set to a 33m pool from my fancy watch, and the other set set to a 25m pool. Shrug

Swimming 32:49 [3] 1.0 km (32:49 / km)
ahr:133 max:153

Swimming indoors, in a pool! First time in many, many years. Not sure how big the pool is at Carlisle, it's advertised as being 33m but there is a boom across it splitting it in two.... so reset watch for this big to 25m pool. No idea if that's right or not.

Front crawl

Swimming 8:36 [2] 0.3 km (28:40 / km)
ahr:113 max:130

Some laps of breaststroke to get going and figure out the pool etiquette. Lanes ridiculously narrow, had to be really careful not to bash into people coming the other way, or bash into the ropes on the other side.

Thursday Jan 23 #

Running 1:00:28 [3] 4.81 mi (12:34 / mi) +277m 10:40 / mi
ahr:146 max:168

Tired all afternoon, to the point of forking out for a can of coke from the vending machine (£1.20?!). Was about to go to training to force myself out, but then Vic text so I opted for a chatty yomp up Walla instead. Lubbly jubbly.

Wednesday Jan 22 #

Note

Had a proper day off, since my last "day off" consisted of swimming and climbing (and I'm intending to spend slightly longer swimming on this Friday, through means of going indoors). Spent a bit of time on the foam roller and hockey ball trying to sort out my calves. Not sure if it worked, if anything left calf seemed to tighten up even more

Tuesday Jan 21 #

Intervals 25:14 [4] 3.52 mi (7:10 / mi) +63m 6:47 / mi
ahr:157 max:183 shoes: NB840 new

Club training on a loop around Rogerfield and Springs Road. Long reps ("speed endurance"), taking ~ 5mins, with 3 minute break between each. Kept pace and time fairly consistent according to watch. Recorded "running time" as breaks were spent pretty much standing still

Running 5:46 [1] 0.6 mi (9:36 / mi)
ahr:144 max:156 shoes: NB840 new

Home again, jiggety jig

Running 16:45 [2] 1.69 mi (9:55 / mi) +35m 9:19 / mi
ahr:133 max:162 shoes: NB840 new

Club training. Over to the leisure centre, then out to Rogerfield. Getting dropped on the run out, which is ridiculous when I'm firmly middle of the pack during the session. Not sure why everyone feels the need to run the warm up so fast.

Yoga 20:00 [1]

Woke up at 6am and didn't want to get up, so bargained with myself that I could get the late bus (8.30) if I got up at 7 and did some yoga before work.

Yoga for hips and lower back (Adrienne)

Monday Jan 20 #

Running 39:22 [2] 4.02 mi (9:48 / mi) +31m 9:34 / mi
shoes: Kanadia TR7 2

Legs tired, so just an easy trot out along the lakeshore to an arbitrary 2 mile turn around point and then back.

Sunday Jan 19 #

Running 2:40:54 [2] 8.44 mi (19:04 / mi) +615m 15:33 / mi
shoes: Walshes 3rd pair

Finishing off the WCOC beer trail with TP. Was glad they had chocolate as well as beer at the end
