Orienteering race (Stirrup Glen CC#1) 1:16:03 [4] *** 6.2 km (12:16 / km) +210m 10:29 / km
spiked:10/19c shoes: Salomon XT Wings

I ran the brown course and had a really good race apart from a major error which cost me about 8-10 minutes. I lost map contact completely going to #14. If i wasn't for that, I would have been in the mix with the top 5 - aaargh! Anyway, the rest of my route choices and pace seemed to be much better than last year with just some minor mistakes in the quarry as well.

Having looked at the splits - I was 3rd at #10... the quarry dropped me to 6th and #14 dropped me to 9th. I need to concentrate all the way through and eliminate major mistakes completely!

Climbing 3:30:00 [3] +135m
(injured)

My first climbing session back after my finger injury. So we thought we'd focus on quantity rather than quality at Strubens Valley. The result? 22 routes ranging from grade 7 (which we soloed) to grade 17. Forearms started cramping towards the end... Finger is feeling ok but still sore on some of the more active grips.

Road Running 36:37 [4] 8.2 km (4:28 / km) +92m 4:14 / km
shoes: Salomon XT Wings

Normal route through Melrose to Killarney Mall and back... I need some more routes for variety - maybe add a little distance as well.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [4] 2.0 km (30:00 / km)
shoes: Salomon XT Wings

Grid exercise with obstacles, control description memory and master map exercise. Warmed down with a grid relay and a 1km time trial which I ran in 3:30 - remind me next time not to try and keep up with Mike!
