Last day to Hole in the Wall. Had a proper sleep-in and lazy start. Overcast all day and plenty of hills to still get over. Luckily fairly short as our legs were not in the mood anymore ;) Had the company of a Pondo mutt for the last 9km from Coffee Bay. Unfortunately he didn't get any treats for his efforts.

Incredible to have been able to explore the Wild Coast on footand so great to share it all with Neal too! :)

Sjoe - day 5 was a biggie! Port St Johns to Mdumbi Backpackers. Some really amazing ridgeline running early on and some hectic mud-wallowing on inland singletracks. Got really hot until the rain moved in later in the day. Started employing the AR shuffle when the day got long :)

Really cool to be able to see all these places in this way.

Wild Coast run day 4 - to Port St Johns. Really cool section early on with remote beaches separated by big hills. Then some slow grind on the usual muddy & marshy tracks. We finished along the Agate Terrace road and were lucky enough to get a ferry across the Mzimvubu, saving us an 8km run around! Chilling at Amapondo Backpackers now..

Rain was forecasted for most of day 3 to Mbotyi, but we got away with only a few short showers. The underfoot conditions were very swampy from the storms the night before, so the going was slow. All that rain meant the waterfalls at Waterfall Bluff and further along were pumping though! Such a brilliant section of trail with flowing singletrack just above the sea cliffs. Tough last 5km with soft high tide beach sand and blasting headwind rain made us very happy to reach Mbotyi Lodge to put our feet up.

On day 2 we took an inland route to explore the Mkhambati Nature Reserve, mainly on undulating grassy dual track. The highlight was the sudden view over the Superbowl, a massive amphitheatre of cliffs near the Msikaba River. We crossed the Msikaba, which was brown and flowing strongly, arm-in arm, and had a pretty rough bundubash back up to the last few gentle kms to the cottage at Msikaba. Just beat the downpour! :)

Running the Wild Coast from Port Edward to Hole in the Wall with Neal. Day 1 was mainly down long beaches to Mtentu. Sand conditions weren't great with the neap tide, but the strong tailwind made up for it :) A few brown river crossings which needed short swims and a slight detour inland to see the red dunes. Some rain coming tomorrow it seems..
